BCCI hikes players’ pay, demotes Yuvi Amol Karhadkar , Hindustan Times Mumbai, November 11, 2010
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hiked retainership and participation fees across all forms of the game for cricketers selected for international matches on Thursday, even as it downgraded out-of-form batsman Yuvraj Singh and promoted Suresh Raina to the top bracket. Yuvraj has been pushed down from A to the B group in the BCCI’s gradation system, with a substantial lowering of retainership fee.

Yuvraj had been crap for over a year at that point. He was fat, his fielding had slowed down and he was not making runs with the bat. Full credit to him for bouncing back, and hopefully, he will get back his A retainership. You can't blame the board for dropping him and cutting his pay grade: he was well and truly crap in 2010.

Yes you like Sachin to have tons of records and ads to mint money. But he cannot play one match winning innings. The low paid guys should raise to the need play and get the team win. So your Sachin or Dhoni can make money. Apart from the final, your Dhoni failed in all matches.

don't compare god of cricket sachin with DOG dhoni. It is insult of cricket. sachin was highest run getter in this wcup. also main archtect for Q/F, S/F win & tie agianst Aus. also great century aginst SA. Dhoni not scoring- nothing new. It is linled with his ability

Really? So you think tendulkar's 97 vs Pak in 2003, or 200 vs SAF, or 136 vs Aus in Sharjah were not match-winning? What have you been smoking? I just named 3, there are many more. Just because Yuvi was at the finish of games doesn't make all of them match-winning. Someone has done the work up front to get you into a good position so that the others can capitalize. I doubt you understand how cricket works!
Dhoni is a keeper first, and batsman second. His job is to take catches behind the stumps, and perhaps excepting one dropped chance vs Pakistan, he held on to all catches. Which is better than having someone like Kamran Akmal who drops every third chance that comes his way. Keeping for Dhoni is mandatory, batting is optional. Yuvi will never get dropped for bad bowling form, but deserves to get dropped for poor batting form.

why u forget this wcup 54 against Aus in Q/F 85 against pak in S/F 120 agisnt england in leage. Two resulted in win & one in tie. Also 111 agisnt SA was a classic inning but then wasted by remaining useless players like dhoni. He is highest run getter in this wcup too.

These naysayers are actually illiterates on cricketing issues and are so irrational with their obsessions over certain players that they find it necessary to put down the true achievers.

How could we not win the 2011 World Cup? When we have The God Eeshwar in Sachin, Avatar Krishna in Kristen, Lord Vishnu in Dhoni, Bhim in Sehwag, Arjun in Yuvraj, Ghatotkach in Yusuf, Abhimanyus in Gambhir, Virat, Raina, Zaheer, Munaf, Nehra, and Hanuman in Shreeshant...and Kuberas in BCCI.....!
It ws decided that India wl win cup. They hd flop show in 92, 99 n 07. reached semis in 96 n finals in 03 so acc to this calculation they shud hv emerged as winner in 11 n it happened. Although its jst a superstition bt it worked. A great team effort .
Sachin : as usual best n consistently gud Yuvi, zaheer : performed consistently gud like sachin Sehwag, gautam, kohli, raina: played sm imp. Innings Dhoni: played the most imp. Inning of his life in final. Bhajji, ashwin, munaf: controlled opponents r/r Yusuf: cudnt play wid potential bt still a match winner Chawla: a surprise selection bt cudnt surprise batsman. N finally last bt nt the least Nehra, sreesant : lived upto the expectations n as usual proved to b the most useless bowlers of Nation. Their selection ws the biggest mistake of selectors n both of them proved this one more time. Both r outstandingly useless n deserve to be stand out of the team permanantly.

Good observation. There are very good chances Nehra will improve; but that useless ape-chimpanzee sreesaaanth deserves to be publicly humiliated. I request Bhajji to do the needful and this time wear brass knuckles.

I think your observation about Sreesanth is right in one day,,, but he is one of the best bowlers we have in test as good as Zaheer.. remember that every time India won outside India in test Shreeshant was there,, also in worl cup his first spell was very good lateron as usual he started doing all his monkey tricks and failed to impress,, but even Zaheer was no goood in second spell,, I think Sree should be given second chance,, he is very good swing bowler..
Only Zaheer can say he emulated '83 heros. The performance of other bowlers of this team were pathetic. '83 team had much better bowlers. This team won the cup just because of super batting performance
Re: Only Zaheer
by Maximus Meridius on Apr 03, 2011 11:54 PM
The 83 team got lucky. Had the Windies taken them seriously, there is no way they could have won. Kapil Dev was the only decent bowler in that team; the rest were gentle medium pacers, who would get thrashed anywhere else (the ball swings in England). Man for man, they were no match for a team that had people like Garner, Marshall, Roberts, Holding, Viv Richards, just to name a few. In fact, in a few months, Windies toured INdia and handed India a sound thrashing 5-0 or 4-0 or something onesided like that.
This team can win against anyone in world cricket, consistently, and not a random jackpot like the 83 team.

even this team will be thrashed by Aus, SA if india play abroad without sachin. SA defeated India recently 3-2. aus defeated india 4-2 & 4-2 in last two full series
Congrats Team India...This proved our ebility & strength and everything to be proud of for a nation.A very well deserved WIN ...WORLD CHAMPION's , Go INDIA Go.Let us take this spirit and make our Nation , one of of the best!
