In the midst of our celebrations, we forgot to honour Murali who retired from international cricket yesterday. Our failure to take note of Murali's retirement and accord him a place of pride in the presentation ceremony speaks ill of our appreciation for the tallest and greatest offspinner of all time. He should have been commended and felicitated by the ICC and the BCCI in the fitness of things; that would have brought some cheer to the Srilankan players and viewers around the world and enhanced our image as a sporting nation. Truly, it is easy to get carried away in moments of triumph and thats what sets a great nation apart from ordinary achievers like Australia and Pakistan!It was really unpardonable that we allowed a colossus like Murali to just fade away into the sunset. And after labelling the final as one between Sachin and Murali! I am sure Srilanka would have fawned over Sachin if he were to retire from their soil!

I agree.Sharad Pawar should have honoured him with a trophy.Murli has been a great ambassador of cricket and is a great human being just as Sachin Tendulkar.If Murli had been an Indian,he would have been fawned over like anything but we Indians have showed our lack of grace in not honouring the greatest bowler of all times on his retirement.Shame on ICC and BCCI.
generosity in changing the more than 100 year old law about chucking, Muthiah Muralidharan would have remained a commoner (and probably would have ended up in one of the tamil refugee camps run in pitiable conditions by the Sri Lankan regime) !

yeah.. even with this chucker and the slinger and cry baby captain asking for retoss, lankas could not beat the indian team. May be next time they can try with fair tactics. it felt very nice to see the chucker go empty handed

Give me one instance where india won any critical match coz of sachin not only that to complete his century he wastes minimum 10-15 deliveries to score last 2-3 runs what u call this? is he playing for the country?

He is not a person to honour his words that he would quit once India wins the Cup.Becoz the moment he quits cricket the nexy day he would be a non entity in public fora. By not honouring his words he is sure to become an eye sore for the team.
