we know, this man was a priced wicket when we use to see india vs south africe, he showed us he is the man of one man army, stood steady we are proud to have him as a coach, he proved his worth a champion is a champion wherever he is or at whatever age he is, he handled our team best, thank you gary, we will never forget you for the joy you have given to us.cheers guys!!!
Gary's major failure was to transform Sreesanth from an unruly boy to a man. But then I think that is even beyond his parents too. Probably only God can.
Good Luck Gary and try to come back to the same role after a year or so, with your family so that you don;t miss them too much.

I guess the reason is Srikanth had a relatively easy job compared to Kirsten..Srikanth and co. had to select from a bunch that was already fine tuned and well-set by Kirsten..but then coaching and grooming is really tough..remember GREG

have you seen any selector on tv in the match. they have been ignored by the politics. But when a team looses then the selectors have been questioned. recently after the first match in south africa. Infact they have been not even given the basic welcome any where in the matches. sad..............

Good point. Regionalism plays a big role in cricket and Srikanth's Tamil origin makes him a victim here.
People usually suspect Tamilians of ganging up against others and though Srikanth has been quite unbiased, he too is a victim of such generalization.

Gary knew about India's bowling strength much before he took in charge as a coach. India has been always known for its batting. So man, just think positively and give thanks to the guy who spend quality time in transforming the team.

there's no dearth of pessimistic people in India....Dhantannan is one such example...

The pitch did assist seamers in the first spell.. even bhajji initially bothered dilshan with bounce.
Sreesanth could not capitalize on it.. entirely his fault.
Sreesanth says "Personally, he helped me a lot, even when I was playing county cricket. He was constantly in touch with Allan Donald [at Warwickshire], making me realise how important I am for the team and how I should work further ahead. I really thank Gary Sir for that."
Re: If this how you perform in spite of the efforts of Sir Gary is regrettable. The no. of NO BALLS/RUNS you gave, Did you ever realize you were playing for World Cup
GURU GREG STARTED THE CHANGE PROCESS. HE STARTED THE GROUND WORK."TO MAKE A OMELET YOU HAVE TO BREAK AN EGG". THAT'S WHAT GREG DID. ALWAYS ANY INTRODUCTION OF CHANGE IS A PAINFUL PROCEDURE. THE EFFECTIVENESS GOES DOWN INITIALLY AND SLOWLY WE SEE GROWTH. THAT'S EXACTLY HAPPENED. THE FOUNDATION, PAIN TAKEN BY GREG-DADA-DRAVID---- THE FRUITS ARE BEING ENJOYED BY KRISTEN-DHONI.
Re: SORRY MR KIRSTEN, YOU ARE ENJOYING THE FRUITS - GREG CHAPPEL
by Akash Nair on Apr 03, 2011 08:48 PM
Greg Chappell was the worst. However your egg metaphor rings true in Greg Chappells case, because that was what he really did - "Break" the team. By the way anybody can break an egg. It takes a good cook to make a great Omelette.
1. Mamta Didi has asked for a National Holiday to celebrate India's win.. Is it reqd to get a national holiday when the match is played on a saturday and next day is a holiday ????
2. Does she know how much revenue loss it will be if its declared as a national holiday ???
3.Is there any country which declares a Nartional Holiday after watching the match for entire day ???? Ok, agreed that recently Malaysia declared a national
holiday after it won the football match agnst Indonesia . But a football match is played for 90 minutes and that match was also played in National Games.
Adding to that , is India economically more super to Malaysia ??
4. Why did n't Mamta Didi asked for a National Holiday when Abhinav Bindra won the first individual Gold medal for the country ???
5. Being a woman ,has ever Soniaji/Mamtaji applauded the performance of Mary Kom who is a 5 times world boxing champion ?????
6. How many print/electronic media covered the news that Paes/Bhupathi won the Miami masters tennis on saturday and now they are world no.1 in doubles tennis
????
7. Many people are now demanding Bharat Ratna for Sachin. Agreed, he desrves it if at all it's given for achievement in sports ???? But then why it has not been given Major Dhyanchand yet ?????? What was his fault/crime/lesser achievemnt for not deserving that ????

hmmm.I am agree with you, but for this no one but we are slight responsible.full blame goes to media.now days media is most corrupt, it is showing us night as day and vice versa.. highlighting cricket mostly because of huge money of our citizen involved in cricket than any other game. Think about our NATIONAL game..if 20% of money invested in cricket had been funded to our NATIONAL game, we would regained our lost glory....cricket is all about glamor, money power and cheap politics...have u heard about any hockey/football player of our country modelling/acting in Bollywood or dating STUPID cine stars???because they are not glamorous n ofcourse glamor comes from money.........

Media is being funded heavily in BIHAR with black money.these BLACK money were blocked outside bihar in LALU regime because fear of him.there was fear among bureaucrats, executives, and second most corrupt organization, withou any check-judiciary, than media(electronic/print).now media is biggest broker of bihar govt.now BIHAR is like heaven for those who were engaged in crime, extortion, loot in erabefore LALU .mode of looting is changed in bihar. These criminals has become LAND MAFIA now in bihar under the able guidance of Mr.Nitish Kumar

8. With this kind of coverage/attention by print/electronic media and the pouring of money , do you think any kid will take a hockey stick in his hand ???
9. Can any one tell me why Hockey is still our national game and why we have not changed it to cricket when so much of attention is for cricket ?????
10. The headline is today's 'Times of India' is that ' India have conquered the world' ....really ??????? How many medals we are winning in Olympics ???? Do we think we have achieved the pinnacle in sports after winning the world cup cricket when cricket is not played by countries like
china,USA,russia, germany and played by only hadful countries ????? ( i'm pretty sure it will take china only 10 years to be the world no.1 in cricket the day they seriously consider it as a sports ).
10. Was it a lesser achievement by Ashish Kumar who won the first idividual medal in gymnastics in Asiad for india , competing with athletes from china, japan, uzbekistan, kazaksthan ?????? But why the media coverage was not the same compared to this world cup celebration ????????
Finally , who are the most beneficiary from this world cup win ???? THE POLITICIANS who are involved in scams...coz they will not be in news for atleast a week

Mr Bango Tango, I agreed what did you say. But same time it happens when a sport became an obsession. U can find similar obsession football in Brazil. But, I fully agreed with ur points, we should look into beyond cricket as well.
But, same time you forgot the big thing. That this article is about a great coach who transform our team to world No. 1 in Test, now in ODI and more over WC after a 28 years of a gap. Did not you find a single word for him, who hase given so much of happiness to us. It is really sad indeed.
Last not the least, raise your voice, but donot forget the original topic and what does it meant for. Or else your raise will be count as obsession rather than a concern.
