1. Mamta Didi has asked for a National Holiday to celebrate India's win.. Is it reqd to get a national holiday when the match is played on a saturday and next day is a holiday ????

2. Does she know how much revenue loss it will be if its declared as a national holiday ???

3.Is there any country which declares a Nartional Holiday after watching the match for entire day ???? Ok, agreed that recently Malaysia declared a national

holiday after it won the football match agnst Indonesia . But a football match is played for 90 minutes and that match was also played in National Games.

Adding to that , is India economically more super to Malaysia ??

4. Why did n't Mamta Didi asked for a National Holiday when Abhinav Bindra won the first individual Gold medal for the country ???

5. Being a woman ,has ever Soniaji/Mamtaji applauded the performance of Mary Kom who is a 5 times world boxing champion ?????

6. How many print/electronic media covered the news that Paes/Bhupathi won the Miami masters tennis on saturday and now they are world no.1 in doubles tennis

????

7. Many people are now demanding Bharat Ratna for Sachin. Agreed, he desrves it if at all it's given for achievement in sports ????
But then why it has not been given Major Dhyanchand yet ?????? What was his fault/crime/lesser achievemnt for not deserving that ????

hmmm.I am agree with you, but for this no one but we are slight responsible.full blame goes to media.now days media is most corrupt, it is showing us night as day and vice versa.. highlighting cricket mostly because of huge money of our citizen involved in cricket than any other game.
Think about our NATIONAL game..if 20% of money invested in cricket had been funded to our NATIONAL game, we would regained our lost glory....cricket is all about glamor, money power and cheap politics...have u heard about any hockey/football player of our country modelling/acting in Bollywood or dating STUPID cine stars???because they are not glamorous n ofcourse glamor comes from money.........

Media is being funded heavily in BIHAR with black money.these BLACK money were blocked outside bihar in LALU regime because fear of him.there was fear among bureaucrats, executives, and second most corrupt organization, withou any check-judiciary, than media(electronic/print).now media is biggest broker of bihar govt.now BIHAR is like heaven for those who were engaged in crime, extortion, loot in erabefore LALU .mode of looting is changed in bihar. These criminals has become LAND MAFIA now in bihar under the able guidance of Mr.Nitish Kumar

8. With this kind of coverage/attention by print/electronic media and the pouring of money , do you think any kid will take a hockey stick in his hand ???

9. Can any one tell me why Hockey is still our national game and why we have not changed it to cricket when so much of attention is for cricket ?????

10. The headline is today's 'Times of India' is that ' India have conquered the world' ....really ???????
How many medals we are winning in Olympics ????
Do we think we have achieved the pinnacle in sports after winning the world cup cricket when cricket is not played by countries like

china,USA,russia, germany and played by only hadful countries ?????
( i'm pretty sure it will take china only 10 years to be the world no.1 in cricket the day they seriously consider it as a sports ).

10. Was it a lesser achievement by Ashish Kumar who won the first idividual medal in gymnastics in Asiad for india , competing with athletes from china, japan, uzbekistan, kazaksthan ?????? But why the media coverage was not the same compared to this world cup celebration ????????

Finally , who are the most beneficiary from this world cup win ???? THE POLITICIANS who are involved in scams...coz they will not be in news for atleast a week

Mr Bango Tango, I agreed what did you say. But same time it happens when a sport became an obsession. U can find similar obsession football in Brazil. But, I fully agreed with ur points, we should look into beyond cricket as well.

But, same time you forgot the big thing. That this article is about a great coach who transform our team to world No. 1 in Test, now in ODI and more over WC after a 28 years of a gap. Did not you find a single word for him, who hase given so much of happiness to us. It is really sad indeed.

Last not the least, raise your voice, but donot forget the original topic and what does it meant for. Or else your raise will be count as obsession rather than a concern.

The great
by Arun on Apr 03, 2011 07:14 AM  | Hide replies

The great thing about this person is that he stayed away from media. Also he talked less and delivered more. A rare quality that he displayed when he was playing for SA too. Who else would start as a opener and face the last ball of the match with running ones and twos consistently. He was the one who broke Kapil's record and acored 180 . Pioneers deserve the best. Hats off to you Gary...

Greg Chapel was an idiot who did nothing but destroyed the unity of the Indian team, ruined it by his obnoxious experiments, ruined the career of irfan pathan by trying to make him an all rounder,he was behind the most unceremonious exit of saurabh ganguly, he produced one of the worst captains like rahul dravid , and himself behaved like feudal lord. What can be expected from a man who just to win a match took to underhand bowling-a super unsportsman like attitude.

But Gary Kristen showed that what is the actual potential of the Indian Team by his sheer dedication towards the team and the hard and intelligent work he put. GARY WE THE INDIANS SALUTE YOU.WE ARE THANKFUL TO YOU AND WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.WHEN EVER WE WILL THINK OF THIS VICTORY WE WILL ALSO REMEMBER YOU.MAY GOD GIVE YOU MORE AND MORE SUCCESS IN YOUR FUTURE LIFE.

legal but unethical
by wibas wibas on Apr 03, 2011 01:28 AM  | Hide replies

In corporates companies decide to give contracts to their business partners, but still call for 'Request for Proposals'. No foul play or no corruption, the company's CEO or some CxO simply decides to give the contract to selected business partner. This is called business arrangement and is perfectly legal but unethical. For example, World Bank, IMF are slammed for their bias towards US because US is their largest shareholder, and in fact is US President decides the head of world bank. UNO itself has approved inhuman wars of Iraq and others, because the security council is managed by US, France and UK leaving China and Russia. No one can prove this to be corruption, it is only termed as political arrangement.

How is this related to cricket? ICC is the regulator of international cricket and BCCI - the Indian Cricket Board is the richest cricket board across world, so unless India wins the cup - ICC cannot survive. In 2007, India has exited prematurely so ICC wasn't able to rake up the projected revenues. This time ICC is careful for India to win.

Before the semi-final match itself ICC chief Haroon Lorgat said it will be a "fairy tale ending for Sachin". how can he say even before semi-finals, unless 'special arrangements' are made for India to win? Simple business sense to make India win, no fixing but only arrangement. No wonder Sharad Pawar gave 400 million rupees of tax benefit to ICC. Good arrangement but truth is it is fixing.

I agree with you. I think all one days are arranged matches. One day cricket is the worst form of cricket. The real skill is shown in test matches. I don't care if India wins world cup or not.
