Sachin unfit for the final
by Garry Kirsten on Apr 01, 2011 04:47 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin is suffering from fever. His absence will make a lot of difference.
I am very tensed about his fever.
He should get well and play at his home ground. We need him badly.

Pathan should play at no. 8 at any cost
by Ian Chappell on Apr 01, 2011 04:12 PM  | Hide replies

think India need extra cushion in batting as they shown vulnerability in batting in the last two games against Australia and Pakistan. Team should feel itself extremely lucky that it has a player like Suresh Raina who kept his head extremely cool (highly difficult, make no mistake) on both the occasion. If Sachin is lauding him there must be significant reasons behind it. Infact I rate his performances in the last two games as top 2 reasons of India's world cup triumph !
But India can't rely on him alone as luck can't favor Raina every time. India's batting has been under tremendous pressure through out the WC. INDIA NEED YUSUF PATHAN IN FINAL ! As Jayawardhane said the pitch is brown so obviously it will have low bounce and turn so there is no need for extra seamer. Instead India will definitely go with Ashwin but I would say GO WITH PATHAN (he is not a part timer, he is extremely competent spinner and explosive batsman) ! Had Pathan played the Pakistan and Australia match there would not be any panic in the dressing room ! Thankfully Raina played two CRUSIAL knocks otherwise...! So I would say go with PATHAN in the final otherwise Malinga and co. can take Indian batting in the DEEP of Arabian sea !
One more thing Yusuf can bowl like Ashwin on brown wicket but Ashwin can't bat like Yusuf even in his wildest dream !!

REUTERS, PTI:

Just in: News from the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

India’s chances of world-cup win against Sri-Lanka may just get harder. News from the Wankhede stadium is that Sachin Tendulkar has pulled his hamstring and suffering from back spasms raising doubts on his participation in the world-cup final on Saturday.

With Murali doubtful for Srilanka , the advantage to India may well be lost and match evenly poised. Yusuf Pathan was seen training hard on the ground and may well open the innings with Sehwag as Gambhir is also having little niggle. Raina expected to bat at no. 3.

What a heartbreak for Indian fans and Sachin tendulkar??

Expecting more details to come-in soon. Keep watching this space for further updates.

India's Michael Vaughan (M S Dhoni)
by Venkat Narasimhan on Apr 01, 2011 03:24 PM  | Hide replies

I wonder Dhoni is talking about some other's fitness. As a batsman what he has achieved in this WC 2011? He is peacefully travelling on some other's shoulders, and getting the NAME (if won) otherwise blaming others!!! what is it? shameless fellow!!!! He really hits 6s and 4s (ONLY IN ADS) so better he can go to that field and should give opportunity to the talented one!

What a great knowledge you have!!!

What is the main role of Dhoni in the team ??

Wicket Keeping. He is doing his prime job absolutely well. Not like Kamran Akmal dropping 10 catches.

In addition to WK he is also a batsman. I accept that he has not performed well as a batsman in this world cup. Everyone will have ups & down in their career.

Apart from WK & Batsman, he carries additional responsibility of leading the team.

Many think that leading a team is not any additional work. Only responsible people will understand the need and presence of a good leader.

No meaning in talking to useless people like you.

nehra ho ya gambhir, wat diff it makes. bcci team will lose anyways.
bcci team is lucky that no one cares for this game in australia and pak, and as a result, they do not have upcoming good players.
All hype and hyperbole by bcci and media
