Some nice words from young Ravi on his idol Sachin!
by Sanjay on Sep 13, 2010 05:37 PM

" Sachin, by scoring the double century, has completed himself and achieved everything. As a batsman he is complete. He has all what a batsman wants from the three formats of the game. He has got so many 100s and 50s in Test and ODI cricket. He is a great, great player, " Bopara told PTI.

Bopara, incidentally, is one of the nine cricketers in the history of limited overs cricket to score a double hundred. He had scored 201 not out for Essex against Leicestershire in 2008 in a county match.

Has Sachin not lost 2-3 years due to injuries (back and tennis elbow), he would have been having more than 55 century in test and ODI?

In that case, No one would have been asking whether Ponting or some batsman A will surpass this greatest batsman after Sir Bradman.

Ponting

This is around 1 year old comment

"I've never put a time-frame on when I am thinking about finishing my international career," Ponting, Australia's all-time leading run scorer and a veteran of 135 Tests, told reporters at the Oval here on Wednesday.

lol... I think they both keep an eye on each other ... Ponting is reason Sachin continues to play... Sachin is reason Ponting is still playing :-) Neither of them notice young Ravi keeping an eye on both of them and sneaking up slowly :-)

Ricky Ponting on Sachin!
by Sanjay on Sep 13, 2010 05:16 PM  | Hide replies

" The number of innings of his I have been able to sit back and watch, I think he is an amazing player. Look at his stats and records and it's quite incredible for someone to have stayed in the game for 20 years.. He has set benchmarks for guys like me to chase him and get as close as we can. If I had to last 20 years, I would probably be batting in a wheelchair!!! "

So ponting really wants to surpass him. He can in test runs and centuries too unless he decides to retire after ashes.

what makes you think so? It is a difficult task for Ponting.

Has Sachin not lost 2-3 years due to injuries (back and tennis elbow), he would have been having more than 55 century in test and ODI?

Following career statistic are accurate as of August 2010. Sachin Tendulkar scored his 48th test at SSC in Sri Lanka after making his 46th ODI century (a double one) just a week after raising his 47th test century.. Ricky Ponting's latest century, his 29th in ODIs, came against West Indies on 14th feb. Sachin plays Australia then New Zealand in test series this year while Ricky Ponting will be in India and then Ashes 2010. This is Aussie's time to make up for lost ground to his Indian rival.
