the Indians should not be carried away by such praise. they should fight each encounter like fighting for survival.

There is nothing India has achieved to carried away. The last time we won world cup is 1983 and still we have a long way to prove our strength on fast pitches outside subcontinent, above all by 2012 or 13 we might see great players retiring and we have to fill a big thing, we never had great pace bowlers :) like paki or south africa or aus. So we have plenty to achieve before relaxing

Ian Lendl the great tennis star is the one every one should emulate. his moto is "to win on his off form days, when the opponent is in great shape and the crowd roots against Lendl"

It can be applied in sports, economy, public and foreign relations. what i meant was not to be carried away by some positive sentiments but keep onself fit always.

Advice to KIWIS
by rajath on Oct 29, 2010 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

Being an Indian and closely having observed the players I would like to give the following suggestions for the NewZealanders:

1.Relying on spin is not at all necessary in the so called 'Indian conditions'.Please whole heartedly select 4 pronged pace attack.Indians are very suceptible to attacking bowling(particularly swing and seam) & fielding. Then we will see whether the so called run machine works or not.
2.Keep always 2 slips,minimum.
3.Most vunerable Indian batsman to good bowling:
a.Dhoni: Just media statements can't prolong the carreer. He is bound to be kicked out of the team sooner than later
b.Sehwag,Sachin,Vijay,Laxman...etc will realise how different they are from Rahul Dravid.
4.Indian bowling:
a.Keep in mind that Zaheer bowls 5 loose balls for every fluke ball.He is another inconsistent bowler.
b.Don't try to over attack Sreeshanths/Ishanths thereby giving them a fluke wicket or two amidst a huge quantity of listless bowling, which will only make the empty headed Indian selectors to select them for the next series ignoring further talented bowlers like Munaf Patel.
c.Ojha is far better than overrated Harbhajan.
Hit him out of the stadium.

Wish you all the best KIWIS.

You must understand:
1. Dhoni is a WK first and the batsman. Even if he can maintain an avg of 30 . he should still be in team for his better than rest keeping abilities and leadership qualitites.
2. Munaf is below first class level, forget international cricket. Just line and length is not good enough at this level, a part time bowler can do as good / bad as him. Except Saheer to some extend, we lack a quality pace bowler.
3. None of our spinners can turn the ball. They get lucky on indian wickets where foreigners turn too much and they get just enough turn to take an edge. Put him on a decent track and none of them can turn a ball. In fact Viru and Sachin are the only indian bowlers who can actually spin a cricket ball!!

Otherwise, agree with most of your observations.

yes you are right ... sachin in particular will realize how tough it is to score on bouncy pitches. he has been failing against the aussies in aus for decades now

Am sure you have the stats to back that up right ?

Hello Rajath, do you normally see cricket. Or are you confused with base ball for cricket. Any way if KIWIS are going to listen to this, I think then it would be very easy for the Indians.

india is the better side....
by Rajesh Bhagwat on Oct 29, 2010 02:22 PM  | Hide replies

quite obviously. buoyant, positive and talented. we can definitely look forward to pocketing both test and 1day series with NZ.

my point is, even a dog is the king on his own street they say. our team never goes to nz or oz? or SA? or WI? WHY??? just because there is more money in india???

india should now conquer pommies, ozs and nzs, bearding them in their own den! only then we will truly say indians are world champs! No.1!
Viva India
God Bless India!

India need to take 20 wickets to win tests
by Raimer Rainer on Oct 29, 2010 01:53 PM  | Hide replies

Even after good starts, Indian bowlers are unable to finish off tails. Indian bowlers should be able to end innings quickly after grabbing the first four or five wickets. If India achieves this their win rate will go up overseas as well as in India.

It used to happen earlier, and such things may happen to any team...for a reminder, in recently concluded test series between india and australia...australian team could not get Ishant Sharma's wicket..and that resulted in their loss in the first test at mohali...

so unfair to say this for current indian team....
