Has an India-Australia Test series become bigger than the Ashes
by raman govindan on Oct 15, 2010 09:27 PM

let us stop dramatising every event and also make mountain out of mole hill!

the media is the main culprit. most of them are half baked materials and their reporting and the editor's lethargy makes India laughing stock. the editor should show balance and level headedness.

Who is this Mahapatra
by Bharat Talwar on Oct 15, 2010 08:25 PM

I do not know what this Mahaopatra wants to say. The Ashes has become stale since long time. And if you see the history of Ashes, for the long so many years it has never been competitive. Whereas The Gavaskar Border Trovphy in the recent times has been more important but in the way Ponting and other Austrial players are acting even there will be no charm to witness Australian-Indian matches. India has shown that in Cricket they are far more superior than the Ponting team Austali whether it is Battins, bowling, and specially in team spirit. Of late, they have even come up bravely facing the sledging of the Australians. I think the next series between India and South Africa of India with Sri Lanka will be more attractive and competitive.

I think players of all sports of Australia, have decided rater determined to tarnish the image of their country. And they are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure this.. thus keeping themselves in news for all wrong reasons.

Naturally he prefers Ashes
by KSR MURTHY on Oct 15, 2010 05:24 PM

It is no surprise that Ponting prefers Ashes, because his team is now far underrated in comparison to India. In any case Australians can never be the same as they were used to be few years back, mainly because they depended 70% on talent and 30% on sledging and other on field tantrums. India helped all other cricket nations how to deal Australian team on field. Now they are afraid at the very sight of Bhajji/Zaheer Khan/Gambhirs.

I do not think Australia can ever reach to the top of Test cricket again.

Enlightment
by vadlamudi srinivas on Oct 15, 2010 02:31 PM  | Hide replies

In the recent times (last 15 years), is there any meaning in ashes when Australia is dominant mostly and England recently. (I feel it is an match of unequals).

Then how does it hold more important than any series of more or less equals (Ind Vs Aus, Aus Vs SA, Ind vs sa, Ban vs Zim) etc. You can make any equal permutations & combinations

Enlighten me how Ashes is bigger than any of the series between the equals
