Rating system looks sensible here. If Ind beat Aus 3-0, Ind move up 115 to 121. If Ind beat Aus 2-1, Ind move up 115 to 118. If SA beat Zim 3-0, SA move up 115 to 116, rightfully just 1 point gained after clean sweeping a bottom ranked team.
Just like 2007 and 2009, it was a 7 ODI series scheduled, why only 3 matches?
had it been a 7 match series, Team India would have better chances to chase the battered Aussies. Also a 3 match series would not be a good practice for Team India aiming for World cup.

The four one days were reduced to accommodate two test matches which were more interesting. With three ODIs it's a good mixture. Seven ODIs would have been boring.

Yes, that is correct. Though ideally i like 3 Tests, 5 ODIs, 2 T20s in every series spread over 2 months.

india can easily win 3-0 against aus and retain the position provided umpires help them similar to what happened in tests. with umpires support it will be 13 players playing for india. good luck india
