Many people here comment about Australia taking India's wins in India in to consideration....Aus under Ricky lead the ODI rankings by a huge marigin of 17 points..For that matter, Aus thrashed India in the ICC T20 World Cup....so let not Indians think too much by winning tests in India...

England, West Indies, South Africa and New Zealand are the only teams to have won Test series in Australia. The last time England won was in 1987, West Indies 1993, New Zealand 1985, South Africa 2008. Australia has a formidable home record. So does India. Since Jan 2000 to date, Australia has the best overseas record. India is the next. So give credit. India has done well. Maybe not at Australia's level, but we never had a potent, settled bowling attack. It has taken India a long time to become a Test cricket power, but the golden generation of Tendulkar, Laxman, Dravid, Ganguly and Kumble have taken Indian cricket to heights never done before. They had support from Sehwag, Zaheer, Harbhajan and Gambhir. These guys have done their job. It is now the responsibility of the Pujaras,Rainas, Ojhas and others to take India even higher. But it will not be easy. These guys have to work hard, real hard. The golden generation of India's cricketers achieved what they did by sheer hard work.

Buddy, test matches and ODI are a different ball game altogether. We are talking about test matches here. India has won test matches not only in india but also overseas as well and that is why they are No.1. ICC rankings are based on facts which takes into account the matches won at home as well as abroad and they don't lie! Australia is ranked no.4 and deservedly so!

My question is simple. When is the last time, India did win test series in Australia? This "All conquering" Indian team has nor defeated South Africa and Australia in their home turfs..let them do it first...then they can be numero uno!!! India has the habit of playing against Srilanka often...either they come here or we go there...

We cannot evaluvate his captaincy in the same measure as his batting. Even he has said, he is not good at that job. Anyway giving adjectives such as god etc is something else which emotional fans do.
And don't forget that we have won a test in perth and also drew the series there in 2003. For winning, we should have a good pace attack, which we did not had in the early days. Sachin is only a great batsman not an express pace bowler

Dear Rajan,

I agree that Sachin need not be blamed for India's failure...He is teh Greatest Batsman of the Century i agree...but i am mad at people who bring down God's level by comparing Sachin with God...Sachin himself is a very humble person..so calling him God is wrong..so my comments were directed againt them..you seem to be a well mannerd Gentleman..and BTW, Congrats for the Indian 2-0 win...

But see joshua, i am also not a mad supporter of sachin. I was all against him after his last day dismissal in the just concluded mohali test. And i too still believe tat he fails to deliver in the real pressure situations. But the way he scores these days, he is invaluable to the indian team. And whatever little left is there to win in any match, the rest can do it for him.
About the world cup, i agree that he once again played badly in a cruciial match. But he had made important contributions in that wc to help india reach final. Infact he was the highest scorer in the world cup, not from india. He was the highest scorer in the 1996 wc also and there he took india in to semifinals. But the bowling and the rest of the batting then, was horrible. We all know, that he had a personal setback during the 1999 WC, when his father passed away in between the tournament

This present team of Ponting is a potential world beater. Their bowling is disciplined. They have potentially match winning batsmen. Remember, this is a raw new team. CA should retain Ponting at the helm of affairs for at least another 4 years. He will shape this team into a winning team. Remember, that Arjuna Ranatunga patiently built Sri Lankan team as one of the top teams. Allan Border did for Australia. My guess is that India, Australia and South Africa will the teams to reckon with for quite sometime to come.

The bowling has'nt got the balance, because Australia need a good spinner, and Hauritz is not one. The batting line-up is aging. I think it will be 5 to 6 years before Australia emerges as a rebuilt team.

Yes he sowed a seed to destroy irfan. India lost a quality bowler and all rounder after that but got an average batsman in irfan back. He was an important player till then indian line up, but guru greg gave over emphasis on his batting and send him always at no:3. Later pathan as we all know, lost his art of swing bowling and thus became a causality of greg's tactics

Whatever accusations u level against ganguly, pls bear in mind that he was the one who brought professionalism in to the indian team. Before that it was the azharuddin era and then we were used to see the same names again and again in our team selection like jadeja, robin singh etc etc. But saurav gave importance to youth and under him many cricketers of the present like sehwag, bhajji, yuvraj etc blossomed. There are many examples to quote to define's saurav's role in the re development of indian cricket. But then, this page won't be enough for me to do that.
For me his contributions to indian cricket is next to none.

Ravindra Jadeja - what is this thing
by lee on Oct 13, 2010 10:47 PM  | Hide replies

I can't believe Ravindra Jadeja has been included again in the ODI squad after his consistent invisible performances. This guy has got too many chances to prove and has proved that he is not an international material at all.
I suppose this guy has got big political influence behind him. But this international cricket and here corruption can be detected easily.
