Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in the series 403 runs at an average of 134.33, including one double century (214) and two fifties (98 & 53*)-- his first instance of amassing 400 runs in a two-Test series.

Tendulkar has registered his 13th fifty against Australia - his 58th in Test cricket.

Hopefully he will continue to ruin the opposition by scoring the rains of runs like so far this year in next series in this year & also in 2011 to make sure he get well past of 15000 by england tour in july 2011 with 52 100s may be or 51 100s.. wish him to play as long as possible then in 2011 & in 2012 a bit if possible to score over 15500 to to 16000 runs @ over 57.5 avg with 53-55 100s.. all the best buddy

AUSTRALIAN TEAM IS WEKEST EVER FOR PAST 2 DECADES
by mohan on Oct 19, 2010 11:01 AM

I statitstics should be apple to apple. Any lay man can say the current aus team is very weak. The bowling is very poor and that is the advantage for India. But the current Indian team could have wiped out if they had 3 years back team.

A good captain need not be the best performer - he should be good enough to get the best from his team. This is what Brearly, Imran , lloyd, ganguly etc did. Even with a classy team Pakistan (before Imran\'s captaincy) did not achieve anything. that shoes the imprtance of having a good captain lead a good team.

you mean contribution of a captain like " ponting, graham smith, gayle, vettori" etc ?

Lets see , their primary responsibility as a batsman/bowler and then as a captain

Dhobeghat's responsibility = wicketkeeper batsman. His wicketkeeping skills are probably the weakest in the current crop of cricketeers. But thats ok, as long as his batting is up to par. Besides ODI's , his batting hasn't been up to par

Yeah yeah I know, dhobeghat manipulates his batting position for better averages, but since it does work for india, guess we cannot complain.

However tests and especially T20's seem to be a major problem.

Dhoni is not from the state like Maharastra, else he would have been gifted with so many of honours, even from the army air force. what is the contribution of tendulkar when the team was weak. even now when the team plays any final he sayss.. aaiiiila final ....and he gets out on minimal...

Dhoni is a great capitan
by arul m on Oct 14, 2010 03:59 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is a great captain, period

Why all you guys are saying that all the other guys are good thats why dhoni is getting the result, i don't understand you want to give the indian hockey team to dhoni and want him to win cricket world cup???
Cricket is team game so if your team has to win all has to perform, a captains job is to use the available talent to optimum results which Dhoni does more frequently than others

BTW why you guys are silent about steve waugh or ponting for a while when they danced over all the teams and white washed the entire world, they too were good because of that team
Dont single out dhoni for your attacks

Yes i agree. What is main thing is captain plays important role in building team or maintaining the good tempo of the team. Otherwise just see the condition of pakistan team. Till Imran khan they wer world beaters ven though team had high egoistic players like javed, salim malik, ejaj etc. Ponting needs time as their team is under process of rebuilding and he is doing good job. Its a matter of time that clerke, hussey finds form and they will be again competing for top spot.

As far as India is concern, Dhoni is doing good job, he is maintaining very good rappos among youngsters and seniors. At a time when needed he has played according to the situation. No doubt we have 3 gr8s in our team, but keeping them motivated alongwith youngsters is also omportant and dhoni is doing well on this count.

steve Waugh or Ricky white washed many other teams mainly with sledging thought there were superb players also in the team. the main reason they won was timely sledging again and again in every match to get control. Once they stopped sledging you can see they are at 6th rank in tes cricket.

good message to all the dhoni haters. It is he who promoted the new talent pujara. He said in an interview "The reason behind promoting Pujara up the order was to have some experience down the order, something that might have been required in a match like this," he reasoned, adding, "We thought the opposition might be taken by surprise and that is what happened."

- This is the real captain. He has proved once again.

case of sour grapes.... true its a team effort but it is the captain that plays an important role in bring the best out of everyone on the field... the fab four(saurav not there now) have been there four more than 10 years but failed to be no.1 .. why is it that India is doing well now.. but all you guys can do when someone does well is attribute it to luck, others effort etc etc... If it is a good captain accept it.. The fact whether u accept it or not remains India has performed the best under his captaincy

ya its true that dhoni is doing a good job but blaming the fab 4s that they couldn't do it in 10 years is completely wrong. when ganguli took the reins of team india, we wer at 7th or 8th, but then he pushed us to get at 3rd or 4th alongwith the fab4s, n now watever dhoni is reaping was implanted far beyond his existence, u guys r just watching the building but not the bedrock, i dnt say that he is not good, obviously he is doing good, but he doesn't hold all the credits alone

excuse me !

Sachin proved himself without being carried around like a child

Dravid had to wait for quite a while to make it into the team. Rememeber how much he struggled to make it to the ODI team despite being in the test team ? It was only after the NZ tour that he became a regular.

Ganguly didn't play a single match in 1991 and had to wait for 5 years before he broke in. He too proved from the word GO.

VVS has picked and dropped loads and loads of times before he became a certainity. He was also dropped in 2006( i think) for yuvraj singh.

So cut the crap. If you want mediocre over valued losers, make your own team. Leave indian team alone

Varun,

Sachin was not carried. Get your facts straight.

Ganguly played 1 inning , yeah i wasn't sure if that was an international match or a first class match.

Sachin scored a Hundred in ODI because he used to bat at number 5 for over 4 years. Why does a 100 matter ? Nitpicking much ?

Sachins stats in the first 4 years , he averaged 48

Sachins 1st year he averaged 40 ( which is pretty respectable from that time standards) . All the runs scored were in away series in aus/eng/NZ

VVS was a nobody and had to struggle till he started showing his abilities. Gangu was dropped after a bad debut and then came back. Get your facts staraight. Sachin on the contrary was kept in the team as everybody was convinced about his talent. It took him a long time to score a hundred. So he was carried around. And that had paid off really well. so no issues with that. There will be 4 more to replace. only fools like you dont get it.
