Strange that Mr.Gavaskar is talking in terms of test wins now. I thought that scoring a century is the greatest achievement as compared to winning the match for the country. Even as a commentator, his focus and attention are in terms of scoring centuries and personal milestones only.
Age and mental growth teaches people that to be critical of someone like a legendary Gavaskar, one needs to be have a thoroughbred professional understanding of the game he played and in the years he was thrust into Indian cricket. It is easy comparing VVS or Sehwag or Sachin with Gavaskar but an indepth analysis of what was his contribution towards cricket would tell us better about the personality of Sunny. I am sure that those who are ardent lovers of the game for the 4 decades would certainly agree that Gavaskar was a champion ambassador for the country during those playing days and has been a revelation in his legendary role as a player and as well as a team member. Ask those citizen of the country of this country who has seen him or heard him playing in 1970s and early 1980s, they will tell better. Rest is mere hearsay and lack the intensity of matured thinking about one of our legendary sports person.
back pain to sachin - we get pain in 1999 test against pak in chenai back pain to laxman - we get sweet relief of great victory. stay till end thats diffrence between the finishing.

The difference was the tail- this time we had the stubborn dodgy Ishant providing the best support ever and taking even more strike than Laxman.
In 1999 Chennai test vs Pak, our sorry tail consisted of Joshi, Kumble, Srinath and Prasad !
India's tailend batting has improved vastly in the last 10 years.
We Win that test match on our lower bat order M.S.Dhoni , G.Gambhir , Raina, Sehwag Our Bating order not done theire work in second inning Every Test match both player out early out in second inning thats a big problem india need work hard of that matter.

VVS special innings reminds me of GR Vishwanaths innings in 1970s.VVS wrist work, classy cover drives and his placements are very similar to our great GRV.. an innings to be cherished for ever. Expecting many more such match wining innings from VVS.A player playing for country, not for records

Players will not play for records. If players play well records will come automatically.
the cmnt seems biased.. though Laxman ws thr til the end bt i m t certain it ws a single handed effort... Ishant Sharma did a fair job of givn him cmpny... a decent credit shud b givn to him as vl..
