Yeah, He have a Triple Century as well along with 257 runs, scored well in Eng and Aussies as well for India A team as opener. He is slow but good Batsman and 9 FC Centuries in 30 odd matches not bad at all.

But anyway he and Jaidev will get a feel of Indian Dressing room only not going to play

yeah sure, he might not play in the Second test as M Vijay will get a chance due to CL form and his previous Test Exp and Have the Faith of Dhoni. But Good to See Mukund and Unakat are in the Selectors radar.

but India's fortune is not that much lucky...70% of domestic very sound batsmen would not able to score in international level..very sad

But the fact is without perform well in Domestic they don't get a chance in International Level. Give them a run and find them

May be all forgotten, How VVS Laxman made his debut and never a Permanent Member before Kolkata 2001 epic. He made debut in 1996 and played 20 Matches and Avged only 27. How mediocre that stats. Now we are all just jumping the gun after 3 or 4 failure

yes, Look at after 20 Tests Avg 27 at present, he would be Write off after 10 tests itself.

I feel all the Youngsters should given a Long run to prove their worth before write off them

Ask sachin or dravid to retire and then think about rahane getting a chance. Why you want more mumbai players in the team..? Rahane is a top order player and there is no vacany at the moment.

The essilor lens people have done a bad job with Srikanths specs, because he can not see behind Tamilnaadu cricketers. No rahane, pandey, dhawan, srivatsava etc. it is important BCCI take note of this before talented cricketers switch to Kusti

When vengsarkar was there, he also cannot see beyond Karnataka & Mumbai players. Wasim Jaffer, Agarkar are example. Why not Srikanth? Go and bring ashwin also in the side srikanth.

Second test
by rocky on Oct 06, 2010 08:05 AM  | Hide replies

mukund is a very good opening batsman... players like mukund, pujara will get chance only if the oldies such as dravid, sachin, laxman retire or dont play due to injury....
so many players get injured, then why sachin is not getting injured... pujara chance only if sachin doesn't play.
people compare why rahane is not given chance, then its seniority... abinav mukund is a senior player to rahane.. rahane will still have to get roasted in the ranji, domestics sun to get any chance. also the oldies need to retire for youngsters to get a break.

lack of exp
by akbar Mohammed on Oct 06, 2010 01:39 AM  | Hide replies

I think introducing youngsters like mukund in important matches against aussies doesn’t look like a good idea to me. I know they need that exposure but not when stakes are high... for batsmen i would have gone for Partiv or Vijay or Jaffar... bowler i think praveen would have been better choice

Any thought or comments

A Rahane should be selected ahead of Mukund. If mukund average is 55. Rahane's average is 66. Rahane is more mature and well performer. His last knock is century against higly talented aussies pacers

Rahane has stopped playing as an opener for Mumbai. So why should Rahane be selected ahead of Mukund? But Rahane is any better than Murli Vijay who is still in team thanks to K Shitkanth. Rahane should also have been selected and Murali Vijay should have been dropped. Mukund certainly deserves to be selected. Hope Abhinav Mukund gets to play and not Murali Vijay.

by that logic we should call back KAPIL DEV... he is too senior to all these.. and yeah dont forget the likes of Gavaskar and Manjerekars are waiting for the chance again.. LMAO.. Think before you speak... and yeah few days back only VInod Kambli has desired to make a come back again.. so dont you think he deserves a chance ahead of Vijay, Mukund and Rahane..

Another Tamil in the team
by sreenivasulu reddy on Oct 05, 2010 09:13 PM  | Hide replies

Mukhul got selected just because he is from Tamil Nadu. Srikanth as a proud tamilian selected Mukul rather than considering other quality and proven players like Rahane,Dhawan, M Pandey or R Uthappa. Everyone knows the quality of Tamil players who played for india till now. Vijay was a big flop..No need to speak about Dinesh Karthik..Ofcourse Ashwin is a life long reserve player..Now adding Mukul.
It;s unfortunate that comedians like Srikanth are ruining indian cricket like anything. I believe the senior players should step up now and shoud start warning Srikanth. Otherwise india is going to go in the reverse direction

It's unfortunate that Srikanth labelled Mukul as a guy in the mold of Vinod Kambli. Just because Mukul is a left hander, that doesn;t mean he is like Vinod Kambli.

Laxman's both parents are doctors and he is from a well to do family. He is not like traitors like Azhar who came from poor family and back stabbed the country to earn money .
