Raina, if peppered with short balls, is vulnerable. And there is every chance that aussies will be doing it. For me, as always, Sachin, Dravid and Laxman holds the key, to get a decent lead in the first innings.

Am sorry guys. An error keeps occuring while trying to post comments. I tried to repost it and later get to find that, its all been repeated. Sorry for the trouble. The same thing happened just before too
by scoring quick 50-60 runs in first inning... maybe 2nd inning when target is 300 or so and time is less... but since likes of chappal and manjerakar said sehwag is key his 59 runs are considered doing the part... match can not be won if team main batsman score 59 runs...

true.....but....guess if a batsman takes 100-200 odd balls to score 50 odd runs..thennn..........thts wt happns in test matches on many occassions.
it's a test cricket and AUS have put the score on board....430 is a good score ...the pitch is going to be slow and low....sehwag played his part as usual jhonson got his wicket with a short pitch ball......india need to bat 120-140 overs to overcome this score......sehwag allways provides quick start and he did it again..!!!

120-140 overs! so u want to say india should go for a draw?? man! india is playing in it's own yard and they r playing with the Wickest aussie team of the last twenty years.... they should go for kill...but since sehwag is out it seems pretty tough now...only thing they can do now is a boring draw...

lol...seems to be watching too much of 20-20 ..... it's a slow and low pitch..... this is not ordinary LANKA attack... u need to bat 120 overs to score more than 430..... it's a test cricket...not a gully cricket....AUS dont give lollypops to hit....if u go for strokes ur gone..!!!!! very good fielding side...

I don't think sehwag's wicket will now have any effect on India's chances...he has done his job and now India had plenty of batting line up...Dravid is still there in the crease and he alone is capable of handling the situaton...and after that v hve Sachin...Laxman...Raina nd Dhoni...so not to worry...

I feel Viru should have refrained from attacking in closing stage of the game. He could have started all again tomorrow. Even though we have 7 batsmen in the side, we can not be sure vthat we will be able to bat for 120 plus overs. In the past we have failed to do so on many occasions. Sehwag's dismissal can prove costly PRAKASH WAKANKAR

Thats how sehwag plays. Its because of that fearless attitude, that we are able to enjoy such entertaining cricket. He has been playing a pivotal role in india's victories these days, which for otherwise would have ended in draws

I don't think anybody with some cricket knowledge woud have expected Sehwag to flourish on this wicket which has no bounce. Be happy he has given some start. We have plenty of batting to come. It wil be a real blessing if Ishant is able to hang on for about half an hour in the morning.

'anybody with cricket knowledge', big words. Who said you can estimate the value of Sehwag by plain cricket knowledge. Whenever runs scoring has been difficult for other batsmen, Sehwag has always got runs. Do not make the mistake of 'evaluating' Sehwag with 'cricketing knowledge'.
Re: Re: Sehwag's dismissal not surprising

You are correct as well. Sehwag has scored on all kind of pitches. On this slow pitch he tried to play on the leg side but got leading edge and it resulted in a simple catch.
Re: Re: Sehwag's dismissal not surprising
by SUNjeev Bhardwaj on Oct 02, 2010 10:13 PM
ya vineesh! it's true about sehwag...he is a kind of batsmen who can score on a sandy wicket also and at the same time can throw his wicket on batting beauty wicket....but his presence on wicket is always crucial for india and if u see the last ten years record u will knw abt it...every time he scored some quick runs india chances to win the match increases manifold...
Re: Re: Re: Sehwag's dismissal not surprising
by sunil k on Oct 02, 2010 10:27 PM
this is a quality pace attack and jhonson talked about getting out sehwag with a short pitch ball and he did it..!!!! nothing surprising ...AUS are good at planning against every batsman and executing it at the middle.... sehwag played his part... key to india's success is partnerships.....someone has to play a long inningse since the pitch is slow and low...stroke making is going to be difficult....AUS fielding is realy good....
Re: Sehwag's dismissal not surprising
by arvin g on Oct 02, 2010 10:18 PM
test matches are not won by scoring 59 quick runs in first team inning by ur main batsman ... but with 20/20 and i-day mindset bird-brained idiots will think sehwag already played the match winning inning for india in this match...
