But the current Aussie team is nowhere its past reputation. They seem to have lost that special edge and aura that made them a world beating team.

Players like Warnie, McGrath, Gilly, Haydos, Gillespie, etc were no mean players, they were all once in a lifetime talents. With them gone, that enviable aura too has gone.

Raj Iyer:

So you mean to say that Aussies are NOT true champs, since you gave a very clear definition of what true champs should look like? :)

Dude, get your basics right.
Forget beating India in India, Ponting has never won a single test as captain in India.

Thombre:

:) All that you said might be right but all that could achieve was a DRAW....

You forgot to add the real ingredient of Australia's win - the last 3 Indian batsmen who decided to donate their wickets to the rank part time spinner Clarke in the very last over of the match....

Very well said....

Though ONE team is fully capable of achieving that feat though - namely your National Team.... ;-)

has become most unpredictable team on cricket field now a days. On any day they may shine or doom both with bat & ball. Australia may hit back in remaining tests to bring England to their knees.

Its good to know that English batting is VV Poor and hence they tumbled for a paltry 260 against a V Poor Aussie attack... ;-)
