Dhoni has proven his credentials in 20-20 like leading CSK to the knock out stage in all 3 IPL including winning one and runner-up in one. He has also helped his team win the CLT 20-20. Let us not forget his WC 20-20 triumph in national colors in 2007.
Sachin on the other hand is a poor T20 player and an even poorer captain and it took him 3 IPLs to even get hang on the format.
In 20-20, Sachin should be branded with Kaif, Saha and the likes.
If what I have written is wrong, somebody care to point out why Sachin deserves this honor?
Truth is always bitter so I expect some bitter reactions.

Agreed that Sachin is not that good a 20-20 player. But for your information he was the highest run getter in IPL 3, way ahead of the 2nd highest run getter. Agree he doesnt deserve 1st bracket, but he definetely deserves 2nd bracket,b'coz he's far better than 3rd bracket players like Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman etc.

@Chintan. He was the highest run getter but performed decently just in 1 tournament out of 3. His captaincy, the lesser said the better. You and I would have done better than him, for eg. not sending Pollard in the IPL finals, even a school kid would have known better. Also, his captaincy in the CLT was widely criticised like under utilization of his best bowlers and using his worst bowlers at the death.
@meetwithfire. Dhoni is a proven winner in T20 (I am talking about tests and ODI at this point). He deserves not just 1.8 cr but more. If Sachin gets 1.8 base price, Dhoni can be given 8 cr and Vijay, Uthappa and Pathan twice as much as Sachin. Ganguly is the only other useless guy like Sachin who is still hanging around in IPL through his achievements of the past. Even when he plays, his Strike Rate is too slow and he looks ungainly.

Captian cool also has his luck cool as he raised from no where to a stage where he is. During his initial years he was exceptional but now, more often than not he is not consistent with bat.
I would like to say both Dhoni and Sachin don't deserve that base price.

boss its matter of getting runs or wickets. Player auction for team. Captaincy ll be finalized at any moment. Its just an base price for Sachin's batting skill. So sachin is far better than Dhoni.

It seems all cyber coolies [ IT guys] are at home. They dont use their home internet connections because they are used to free surfing at work. I expect responses on monday when all cyber coolies are brought to work in company bus [see, they dont use their vehicles also]. They all then go to their airconditioned cowsheds or pig stys awaiting instructions from their milkmen [western MNCs]. Remember all those facilities such as Gym, A/c, 24x7 power, free internet, state of the art campuses are all funded out of tax breaks funded by us hard working Non IT guys.

Where do you think I am? Am I not airing my views in public?. Is travelling out of India, my earning capacity or anything relevant. My point is that the IT industry is making a big deal of everything. For your info, I'm a small businessman who is irritated by the constant clamour by ur industry about cheap land, cheap power, huge tax breaks, etc all in the mistaken notion that ur industry alone is responsible for the Nation's growth. This bracketing is unfair to players who perform consistently!! I don't think either Dhoni or Tendulkar needs to accumulate more crores! Rather, I would have placed all players at a base price and gone for open-bidding!!

Believe these figures are minimum bid, cause if you see all top players from India who were captain of any IPL team were getting more than a million $ (which is more than 4.5 crores per season). This time should be similar to this and may be wll go beayond 2 million for a player compare to last years' KP and Flintof who received 1.53 mil.

@Surya. Thanks for clarifying. Yet, I would say Sachin should be placed on 3rd grade and we can see if he is deserving enough to fetch atleast half of his base price. I don't think the Ambanis want a poor captain like him for their team as he is a liability. They have no choice but to hang on to Sachin since there will be a backlash from the Mumbai supporters if he is let go.

They have gone by Ranji teams of the players. For your cricketing knowledge, Mah and Mumbai are separate teams in the West Zone and Vidharbha (geog within Mah) is part of central zone.

The list is based on the Ranji teams the players represent and unfortunately no players were found eligible for a base price from the RANJI teams of Maharashtra and Vidharba...hope thats clear...
