The article says that selectors dont give importance to 5th bowler. And then the data shows that 5th bowler has been counter productive. Whats the point rediff is trying to convey?
Clive Lloyd had proved much before Indians that having 4 quality bowlers is enough to win test matches on any wicket. No matter whether home ground and away.

And he played with two decent spinners(Really Front line Batsman) like Viv Richards and Larry Gomes and they took crucial wickets on spinning tracks
Carefully observing we are always playing bowlers carrying some sort of injury. Either they dont bowl throughout the match or get injured during the match. Fitness is one thing we need to focus on during test matches. Harbhajan used to be a match winner with the ball. He is less effective nowadays. Ashwin and Ojha should be played consistently now. Else we will become another Australia once the stalwarts retire.
Such comparisons w/o complete data such as like batters and other playing conditions are not very scientific evaluation of comparisons and can be misleading.

yep. its really take statistics based on one criteria. The team success mainly depends on current form, what mode where they at the time, where they played the match, new bowler effect, team motivation level, whether or after another tournament etc.. etc..
comparing a sample of 7 to a sample of 47, in saying that playing 5 crap bowlers is not going to get you twenty wickets either, where is Chahar, havent hear about him since his ranji debut?
