this just shows how pampered cricketers have become: Bradman played in an era of uncovered pitches, without helmets, and still outshines everyone, including you know who.
Not directly related, however just the topic set me thinking.
rankings don't really reflect the true greatness of a team. In tennis, Marcelo Rios and Dinara Safina held no.1 rankings. Rios has retired. However, they did not win any grand slam majors
India have been playing mainly in India since 2008 and winning in India. The only world class bowler that India have is Zaheer Khan and he is 32 years old. How long will be be around?
Our soft white underbelly - the bowling attack - has been exposed against the Kiwis. West Indies dominated and decimated the opposition for 15 years. Then it was Australia's turn. West Indies churned out assembly line of world class fast bowlers - Roberts, Holding, Garner, Croft, Marshall, Bishop, Ambrose, and Walsh. Even bowlers such as Daniel, Sylvester Clarke, and Patterson were fearsome
Australia had Mcgrath and Warne as truly outstanding bowlers. Gillespie and Lee were matchwinners at times too. Others provided adequate support.
As for India, Zaheer an d Kumble on their own can run thru sides. Harbhajan is not in the same class (esp outside India)
With India touring SA, WI, England, and Australia next, this will be the true test for India
They can do net practice in actual match. Anyways its a draw. I will just watch scores at the end of the day. Who the hell wants to watch live telecast and highlights of India-NZ test series.. So boring.
