What is role of a coach?
by Bhaskar Sharma on Nov 25, 2010 11:17 AM

What i believe is that coaches are only there for man management. if somebody is going through a rough patch, he will find the flaws and point out.. otherwise tell does sachin needs a coach???sehwag, dravid????raina is there because he already knows everything about cricket. he is better that all of us..thats why he is in the team...coach is to help and not to teach, i guess...and that's where greg failled...he tried to teach

Well when things work, everything we do is great. when we fail its vice versa.
in the last 10 years we had the same 22 players doing a musicial chair for 11 players. i cant see India being number 01 because of performance. we dindt win a test series in Australia, nor South Africa or England or Srilanka. i think its australia which dropped and others remained the same.

Gary Kirsten

It is very nice to know that Gary Kirsten learnt a lot from John Wright. In my opinion both of them are good at human psychology and that is why they succeeded with the Indian cricket team.
Greg Chappel failed miserably because of his autocratic way. Greg Chappel had his way wit Dravid as captain because of Dravid's humbleness. When he tried to rub Ganguly too much it back fired on him. Greg is responsible for the down fall of Irfan Pathan, probably the all rounder we had for a very long time after Kapil's era. The only plus point of Greg Chappel's regime is unearthing of Suresh Raina, who is an asset to the present Indian team.

No dear. Greg Chappel has been perhaps the best coach in understanding Indian players' capability & character. John wright was also good in observation , but Kirsten is plain lucky.Indian team is currently winning some matches mainly because of the competition among the batsmen for places.Raina is the MVP of the team right now.Remove some team players like Raina,Kohli,sehwag,dravid...etc then you will come to know the capability of Kirsten.
Greg chappel rightly identified the following things:
1.Ganguly was not so skillful, slightly put self before team.
2.Dravid was a selfless, highly talented batsman
3.Munaf Patel,Suresh Raina were rightly pointed out by him as players with special ability & classical touch.
4.He always preferred(rightly so) Dinesh Karthik over talking machine Dhoni.

REMEMBER THESE CHANGES IN THE NEAR FUTURE:
1.REMOVAL OF DHONI FROM THE TEAM.
2.KIRSTEN WILL GO BACK.
3.RAINA WILL BE APPOINTED A LONG TERM CAPTAIN.
4.INDIAN TEAM WILL SEE A BETTER FAST BOWLING ATTACK WITH THE EXTINCTION OF BIASED TEAM SELECTION WHICH IS HAPPENING NOW.
(MAINLY WITH ONE PARTICULARLY BRILLIANT BOWLER WHO HAS THAT SPECIAL ABILITY TO TAKE WICKETS AND IS AN ABSOLUTE TREAT TO WATCH )

Mr Rajath,

Let me remind you that the coach is a part of the support staff and should always remain in the background. Chappell basically wanted to hog the limelight and wanted to run Indian cricket. He figured out that as long as Ganguly remained at the helm, it would be difficult for him to dictate terms. So, he started backing Dravid who was meek and submissive (though he is a great test batsman). As far as Ganuly being selfish is concerned, he has never had it easy. As a player, it was tough for him and as a captain, it was even tougher, with constant criticism and scrutiny. I think, he showed a lot of character and heart, and worked in the interest of Indian cricket. Though his batting suffered, he was still a terrific one-day batsman. He was a highly skillful one-day batsman, much better than Dravid.

Mr.Ghosh, Most of the Bengalis turned against Greg Chappel because of wrong and biased propaganda by media. He was very professional and it was media which created most of the issues. If you ask players they will always like someone who is softer and who can do anything for them like Kirsten, but Greg Chappel was more professional and brought a lot of value.

Kriston has done well so far though he has been part of the infamous team of Hansie Cronje. I advise him to guard against bookies and just focus on cricket though ICC sleuths and secret serviceses will be keeping a close eye on his activities. Hope he will not bring any bad name. Best of Luck Mr. Kriston
