The recent results show that the once mighty aussies are going the way of the once dreaded West Indies. The otherday I was listening to the interview with Harbhajan and Sreesanth. When asked whether the decline in the quality of opposition is the result of the Indian success Harbhajan said it is due to the improved performance of the Indians that has led to the consistent success which in fact was only partly true. The fact is that the string of successes started only after the retirement 4 or five Aussies whose names need not be repeated here which cannot be refuted. These days every team beats Australia who wwere once invincible. As Ravi Sastry said Aussies are no longer a team to beat in Cricket in all forms.
Watson Marsh Ponting Clarke Hussey White Haddin/Paine Steve Smith/David Hussey Johnson Hilfy Bollinger 5th Bowling to be done from White, Clarke and Watson This team needs to play for minimum 10 ODI's together to gain momentum and confidence. Surely they will be in contention to defend the World Cup. But India, SA and Sri Lanka are best bet to win the WC. A team wins a big tournament when youngsters are relatively new comers rise to the occasion. India has Raina, Kohli, Gambhir, while SA has Duminy, Ingram and AB Devilliers and Sri lanka has Matthews, Perera has shown their presence. But australia needs white, Marsh, Wicket keeper to rise and England need Morgan, Luke Wright to fire and New Zealand needs Guptill, Ryder, Williamson to fire and ofcourse WI needs all to fire along with Pakistan My WC finalists SriLanka Vs South Africa and pips SA to win the WC. India and Australia are semifinalists.
ICC Please probe the matter something fishy Team Australia throwing away a match which was well over when lankans were 107-8. Dont grill Asians, Aussies are the culprits go behind them.

It is indeed heartning to see that you have placed world's two strongest teams Pakistan and Australia in their right place... i.e. at the top... :)
I mean, no other team can win or lose matches at will unless they are so strong that they do what THEY want to do, irrespective of the opposition... ;-)
.Thoroughly missed Bill Lawry on commentary today. 2.Would not get to hear Lawry,Benaud ,Tony Grieg during ashes as Espn will take those morons from Sky Sports(Botham,Hussain etc) 3.R Benaud was right that Steve Smith should have bowled more because he bowls it away from the 2 right handers, what a legend Richie is 4.Excellent match. 5. Unbiase commentary from Benaud and Grieg. if India had lost it from a similar position there would be a gloomy Gavaskar etc

Abs Correct ...no one can match the genius of commentators like Richie, Bill Lawry....I love the way Lawry says "Bowled Him"...
He looks lost on field & his bowling changes or rather no changes during this partnership were atrocious to say the least.he is not a captain material & Aussies should seriously consider other options after Ponting.
I think even Indias B team can beat them today, they spent the last 10 years sledging, getting wickets by putting pressure on umpires, mindgames etc. They try to hype names like smith, johnson, mackay etc who are no match to the talent that India has.(remember virats 100 in a pressure situation?). India is the undisputed No1 and Aussies are now getting a taste of their own medicine.

Something still tells me that Aussies will stil reach the final this time too.. They are more dangerous when they are down.. Also sri lanka and india will not win this time..

:) "..last 10 years sledging, getting wickets by putting pressure on umpires, mindgames etc.."...
Wow.. ever heard of Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Matt Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Steve Waugh, Mark Waugh, Mark Taylor, Ricky Ponting etc. etc.?..
By your logic you will say in 2025 that India has spent 10 years sledging, getting wickets by putting pressure on umpires, mindgames etc. coz India is winning right now during the 2010 era.. ;-)

yeah you are right . you said the same in 2008 and look where aussies are now ? #1 by a big margin
Also, this is how great the aussie dominance has been. Does anyone talk of the umpteen matches that we have lost this year ? We even lost to zimbabwe 2 times back to back.
Yet people harp about india being #1 in ODI. Aussies lose couple of matches and you guys are out telling that their reign has ended.
Do not count your chickens before they hatch. Losing couple of matches is really not that big of a deal

sameer is still hanging on. Nice performance from the #1 team. Hope they repeat it in odi #2.

But there is a way to lose. Not like this that too @home. They lost like this couple of times already. Generally these things happen for Aussies earlier (in favour), now they have to face it. Not couple of matches Sameer. Lost Ashes in England, Lost to SAF @home. Lost of India twice (series). Lost to England (odi series). Draw against Pakistan in england. Lost ODI match to India. Lost 20-20 match. Lost 1st ODI. Now i am sure they will lose this ODI series and also Ashes. Then will you agree that it has already begun.

as i had written some days back the australian team mentally disintegrated since the monkey gate incident. after that test australia had to face a lot of flak from all the cricketing world. not only people from other countries but the australian citizens themselves were highly critical of the behaviour of their national cricket team.
as indian captain kumble said after the match there was only one side playing cricket in this match. the australian players with their attitude, their sledging, their arrogrance, cheating, were not playing cricket but making a mockery of the game of cricket. there was no sportsmanship left. it was like they can do anything, there is nobody who can question them, they are above law or in fact THE LAW. they can get away with anything and everything but when others respond to them in similar manner the australian bullies didnt like and cried foul.
as long as they broke all the rules, bullied, dominated and abused their opponents and treated them like dirt it was ok but when the opposition team also started to give them back in kind they fell apart.
Re: Re: Beginning of the end
by Sunil Vaidya on Nov 04, 2010 12:20 AM
the bullies till then feared nobody. they were arrogant, above law, proud, vain, and did not care a tuppence for other peoples opinion. but all that changed since the monkey gate test. as usual they bullied the indian players but when indian players answered them back they couldnt take and complained and tried to ban bhajji. but for once they met their match in the bcci. for long the australians were accustomed to having their own way. but times had changed. now the indian board had become powerful. ten years ago if this would have happened bhajji surely would have to face the ban. but this time the indians were in no mood to take that shit. they flexed their muscles and showed who was the boss. they were no longer going to keep quite and bear the injustice. they fought back and got the ban overturned.
the australian players faced such a backlash from their own countrymen that they broke down. till then the australian players did not care what the cricket world thought about the means and ways they chose to win the game. but after that test everything changed and they actually started to feel bad about their behaviour and started yearning for acceptance of them as good mannered and well behaved people who were also good sports. till they did not care about the public opinion so they were bullies and killers on the field. from that day onwards they wanted to be recognised as a well behaved team who had good manners.

they started caring about the sanction of the victim. they started to want acceptance from their victims that they had won fairly and squarely. the BULLY had gone SOFT. that was the end of their killer instinct and the end of their domination.
they had mentally disintegrated as a cricket team and one of the concerned players symmonds not only mentally disintegrated in his professional life but also in his personal life.
Now Aussies has to burn bails/bat/ball etc and put those ashes in some box and inform to world that aussie's cricket is burnt (rest in peace). They will go to 5th place in ODI and test cricket within 1 year. Now england can win ashes 3-0 easily. total momentum lost
Re: Reverse - Ashes
by Balaji Krishnamurthy on Nov 04, 2010 07:58 AM
It is premature. You should remember that Australia have lost 7 to 8 key players in the last 3 odd years. They are slowly rebuilding the team. The fast bowlers are in place, they need to gel together as a team. The batting needs to be rebuilt, and they need to rethink about Clarke as captain. Australia also needs a quality spinner, to lend balance to the bowling. Let us not be in a hurry to write the Aussies off. Right now they are down, but a good team could emerge in 2-3 years. Ponting has done a good job so far with the rebuilding, but the process is not complete.
