karthik and rohit are fine.

What UP??? Whole bunch of Ksatriyas and Brahmins and Yadav (called yadavAnnas)/OBCs and ... migrated from UP to entire South India (karnataka, kerala, TN) belt via AP.

Their food habits are still the same.

It is just that the above in UP would be speaking more SANSKRITIZEd language like Kannad if not for MOGHUL INFLUENCE of Persian/arabic/afgani/turkic Urdu..

I don't know why some people are always ready to start the unnecessary debate on North Vs South or regional debate. Just for your information, Rohit is not a Maharashtrian, but he is from Andhra and is playing for Maharashtra.

Mr. Sreenivasulu has something against tamilians...god knows wht...he never misses an opportunity to criticise TN players in general and Mr. Srikanth in particular. I am no fan of Vijay or Karthik or srikanth.
Lets evaluate the replacement suggested by Mr. Sreenivasulu..Rayudu- was a great prospect but made a wrong decision to move to ICL. As per the agreement with BCCI for his return, he is not eligible for selection in national squad for 12 months from the date of his return.
S Dhawan, Monoj Tiwary, Pujara, Rahane - The record of Vijay is as good as if not better than that of these players in the last doemstic season as well as IPL..pls check the facts.
Uttappa - is injured. if not he would have been def selected. this was informed by selection committee.
S tiwary - was succesful on during IPL. has not performed as yet in the domestic circuit. def a player to watch out for but too early for national selection.
A Nair and M Pandey - A nair has got his chances. derserves another look in but is not an opener. Manish def should have been selected forhis performance in IPL and ranji trophy in the last season.
So except M Pandey...i feel selection on M Vijay and Karthik is fair going by their performnce in last season but they have not used their opportuinity and hence should be dropped for next tournament.
And so Mr. Reddy please get ur facts right before u comment and dont have pre conceived notion about a community or a region.

Thanks

witout murali vijay india would have not won..
because of vijay's well made 14 run rohit could make 100..otherwise rohit would have gone for duck...all because of vijay's strong foundation..means his 14 run

Srikanths genius Regionalist
by Sameer Bhagwat on May 30, 2010 10:30 PM  | Hide replies

By selecting only 4 batsmen, 2 wicket keepers, 2 itsy bitsy allrounders and 6 bowlers. Srikanth has ensured that Vijay and Karthik have to play every game . So even if they suceed in 1 match that will be enough guarantee for a few more years.

Vijay is clearly suited only for Tests and Karthik has had 1000 chances , when will Pujara, Rayadu . S Tiwari get a chance?

Before IPl u didnt even know who is tiwari. And now u r saying that he should be included straightaway to the indian team. What a logic? Moreover vijay was in all BCCI leagues like the challenger series, emerging players tournment in australia. Played and toured for india A team. he played well there. So he deserved a chance. Moreover in IPL he scored more than tiwari and so others.

What about Manish Pandey? or Ajinkya Rahane are they worse off than Vijay, if so on what basis.

If its purely on Ranji, then check the records.

Ajinkya Rahane is a flashy top-order Mumbai batsman who, with 1089 runs in his second Ranji season, was a crucial factor in Mumbai's 38th title win. Only 11 players have scored 1000 runs in a single Ranji season, and that puts his effort in perspective. Rahane's progression to the Mumbai Ranji team was a natural one - he had represented them at all age levels, and was always seen as a prospective Mumbai player if not more. His bumper Ranji season followed an impressive showing in last year's Duleep Trophy, where he scored 172 against an England Lions attack that comprised Monty Panesar, Steve Kirby and Liam Plunket

Shame on Indian media
by Ziz on May 30, 2010 10:28 PM  | Hide replies

Indian media made a huge deal of the news about Canadian consulate rejecting Indian service men's visa applications. The media almost declared Canada a racist, hypocrite and what not country. But none of this media even bothered to announce the news that Canadian media lashed out at their govt and infact Canadian govt appologized officially. The Canadian media questioned their govt "how could you do this?" very strongly.
But the real reason is the scores of opportunistic Indian immigrants who claim refugee status blaming Indian forces of atrocities against them, and even proving it in the court. Canadian immigration just goes by their database and might see so many records of bad remarks on Indian forces. By now many desi's might have claimed refugee status even claiming presence of Taliban in India. But shameless Indian media does pin points none of these and just interested in creating sensation.
