Re: Can the fans sue cricket players for bad performance
by R Balasubramanian on May 19, 2010 02:32 PM
when you cannot get refund of your ticket money when the match is canceled or abandoned what talk of performance. They are laughing at your sheepish thinking.
A wrong time to ask for a penalty i think. We, the indian fans should sue these cricketers for not playing for the country but for the clubs. Zaheer said in an interview that playing for IPL is more stress then anythin else. The commitment says it all here
Dhoni is earning 40 Crores from Endorsement and NOT 80 Crores as mention here. Forbes has listed him as Highest earning cricketer with 10 mn Dollar annual earning from ALL Sources. It has never been 18 MN.
Unfortunately in India, nobody care performances and there is no accountability for mediocre people like Dhobi.
Dhobi's shameful record for all Icc tournaments: 2009 WC-- first round exit 2009 CT---first round exit 2010 WC---first round exit ASia Cup---bad performance 2007-----won due to others performance Dhoni is hiding behind performance of others like Sachin,Sehwag,Gambhir,Raina..if they fail Dhoni never performs in crunch situations.
It is really pity that so called experts and BCCI think that Dobi is indispensable as captain even after such a dismissal records in ICC tournaments.
Do not expect anything from BCCI and any sensible analysis from so called experts. All talk for money only.
After wins against weak teams that too on placid pitches, everything will be forgotten as if nothing happened.

Captains do well only when team members performed. Ganguly succeeded as a captain because players like Dravid, Laxman, Sachin, Kumble and Ganguly performed. No captain wins matches singlehandedly,

Winning CB Tri Series in Australia in 2008 is no mean achievement. This is the tournament which brought out Mahi the captain the best - for he did the unthinkable in the Indian cricket world - of provoking and pushing the semigod and his duplicate (I mean Sachin and Viru) to perform in team's interest.
When Kumble's men struggled against Ajanta Mendis and Muralitharan in tests (except for Viru), Dhoni then went and under his captaincy, the Lankan lions were tamed in their own den in ODIs.
There was huge hype about the tour to NZ which was pre-proclaimed by all experts and fans as a disaster of the tallest magnitude. What really happened? Mahi's men failed to win T20s by whisker of a margin while wrapped up both the ODI and test series comfortably.
If you have forgotten, the famed KP lost his captaincy because he lost the ODI and test series in a total wash out by Mahi's men.
Cricket is a game in which one wins some, loses some. Don't get excited and croak as if you have won everything in your life - may be in your studies, exams, job, busienss etc. If you introspect carefully, you can put your finger on too many rotten apples in your basket too.
In the end - a simple peace of advice: Dhoni is paid by BCCI to play, let them decide what they want from him. We watch him in our TVs in the cosy comfort of our homes, let us just watch and leave things to others. Let us become excited when we pay him from our pockets to perform for us.

You dumbo! If Dhoni had the power to 'provoke' Sachin and Sehwag to excel down under, why did the same Dhoni fail miserably to 'provoke' Raina, Gambhir, Zaheer etc to play well 'up-above' (i.e. in West Indies)????

Now thats what I call an explosive reply and a hard slap on all the critics and ill speaking indians about indian cricket... The instances and the events mentioned above by orient are an example of Dhonis intelligence as captain and charisma as a player...True leader at a young age...he is a human too and he is err to make mistakes....even the superpower america loses to small countries in reality (wars and negotiations)...this is after all a sport which has to be taken in a sportive way.... JAI HIND AND JAI HO INDIAN CRICKET TEAM

He knows that endorsements will come down because of loss of popularity after the WC2020 disaster. He wants to 'wasool' whatever money is remaining.
By far most hyped cricketer, some say he is cool I say he is ordinary. In my opinion cool captain is someone like Steve waugh, Taylor and Rantunga. He really has never faced pressure. I think he takes way too many things for granted. I wish I could see him in a series to Australia where his captaincy and position in team is on the line where he needs to face bowlers like McGrath, Gillispe and Shane Warne and in turn his bowlers are facing Hayder, Gilchrist, Ponting and Hussey how are ready to eat his bowling attack. There are so many reasons I don't like Dhoni and most important reason his treatment to senior players and the comments he made about them. I still remember Dhoni doing favor to SA when he was not giving strike to sachin for his 200. If it would have anyone else they couldn't have managed it. If I was there in Dhoni's position I would much rather sacrifice my own wicket to make sure sachin score more than 200. I think Inidan cricket fans must sue Dhoni for not being able to deliver on global tournaments. He is JUST A HYPE.

Typical Indian fan! i admire Dhoni just because despite being a small-town boy, he made it big in indian cricket... I'm neither an expert to pass comments on his cricketing skills nor a saint to criticise him for making money via endorsments...
