Attitude issue
by Narayanan Sangameswaran on May 18, 2010 02:12 AM

This just shows the attitude issue. While US welcomes anyone and embrace them as their own and lauds and celebrates their achievements as their own - and you have countless of them, here you see a guy who instead of praising the men who brought glory to his country, trying to undermine their achievement. In doing so, he also reminds those men who have crossed over that they dont belong in UK.

Mr.Atherton-How come u say these words at the moment when the England team has won its first world title.
If this is achieved by so called foreign men, why ur english selectors selected them?
Ur ex captain-These kind of words will kill ur reputation. Its not the WC people will forget-its the kind of idiots like u the people will forget-get lost mr.atherton and pray for your englishmen at manchester.
Hats off to Collingwood and co for this historic win!!

I agree. Its a World Championship and the teams are playing with pride and its a more awesome feat than the first T20 WC when teams ddint know how to approach this. Otherwise why would Aussies toil so hard to beat Pakistan. I just think Athers his dwelling too much on his few test series wins. He might give Bishen some competion for griping about everything. And btw nobody cares abt the Ashes anymore as bot these test teams are not in the top. Ind-SA is the only series that matters for now.

Mind these lines from Atherton
by S Shrikanth on May 17, 2010 11:26 PM

They know that the team are not representative of the health of the English game in general, and that without Michael Lumb, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan [ Images ] and Kevin Pietersen [ Images ], who learnt their cricket elsewhere, England's batting would have a far more anaemic look. In that sense, they will not be loved as the heroes of 1966 (World Cup football winning team) were,"

T20 WC is actually not a World cup, but a annual World championship.

For any big sport, World cup comes every 4 years. Thats why it is World cup. Therefore it is remembered.

You are wrong..

If you cite the reasons like "foreign players" involved in the triumph then you better consider the case England football team, almost, 5 players are not from England(by descent).

What Mike says is that the 4 players used to play for some other country, but migrated to English team when matured.

He was the one said 3-4 years ago, its time Sachin to retire, then most recently he criticized Ryan sidebottom after loosing to WI on duckworth-lewis. Atherton is always wrong!!!

Sachin is already semi-retired. He has hardly played any cricket outside Indian subcontinent in the last 2 years. He has decided to play next WC because it happening in India.

He has played only once (ICC CT 2009) in SA and failed miserably.

They were the worthy winners.

Apart from superb batting, their bowling and fielding was no less awesome.

Australia were no match for them as they won some key matches due to some miracles( like Hussey against Pak).
