dhoni the best captain
by ondipulli on May 20, 2010 09:46 PM  | Hide replies

why are we indians behaving like pakistanis, if india wins u carry all the players in ur head and if they lost u stamp them in ur feet........???....... the problem with the indian team is not with the captain ship or team selection, had the same team played in the sub continent the entire result would be different....india won both the league matches played in st lucia (slow pitch similar to sub continent) but they lost 2 of their super eight matches badly in barbados ( fast pitch with bounce) and the last match played in st lucia we almost won it ( srilanka was lucky to hit 6 of the last ball to win it) so this clearly indicates indians performed better in st lucia.......Their main draw back was the players inability to play bouncers in fast pitches, instead of having short sighted approach like sacking dhoni , the BCCI should prepare pitches in india similar to W.I and make players get practise with those pitches....

Dhoni should be removed
by bharatpremi on May 20, 2010 05:40 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni should be immediately removed from ODI and T20.May be retained for Tests. He is behaving as if he is larger than Indian cricket. He is doing chamchagiri to handful of BCCI officials ans to his franchise owner, which is a dirty politics.Indian cricket shall benefit by removing Dhoni.

i understand that you are not aware of captancy responsiblity. Poor performance of team leading to team failure can't be sole responsibility of Captain. Every player in team should take that initiative and play to their extent. In this case Dhoni as captain can't help the batsman/ bowlers/fielders to perform well, instead players should work on and then as a team India with consistency can win the match. By kicking (the word you have used)will not help the team to go higher

But Dhoni is the captain and he was the one who selected the players to play not any one else. so he should be blamed for that. talking about fielding yuvraj place is in point why dhoni is asking him to field in long off this is really wrong. talking about batting Dhoni elected Vijay Murali why? cause he was the higest run scorer. at the same time Pragyan Ojha was the highest wicket taker why he was not playing in t20 world cup? cuase of Dhoni

Dhoni is a young energetic leader best suited as a captain for Test and ODI formats.

In early years he had shown extraordinary firepower but later on he adopted a slow defensive batting style. I seriously doubt if he can reverse back to his aggressive instincts. It is so easy to get spoiled but very difficult to reform. In my opinion T20 is history for Dhoni.

Sehwag is the best suited captain for T20 format.

You are right he was aggressive but when you know? whenever Team India was in good condition at that time only otherwise he was always in defensive style. As a captain he is not fit at all...

what he has shown in early years. He is totally depends on Tendulkat and sehwag performance... He is not a match winner.. remove him for captency of T20 and ODI.

Dhoni is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. Dhoni is one of the number of wicket-keepers who have come through the ranks of junior and India A cricket teams to represent the national team — Parthiv Patel, Ajay Ratra and Dinesh Karthik also followed this route. Dhoni, referred to as 'Mahi' by his friends, debuted in the Bihar cricket team during the 1998/99 cricket season and was selected to represent India-A for a tour to Kenya in 2004. Along with Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni made multiple centuries against the Pakistan-A team in a tri-nation series and was selected in the Indian national team later in that year.[citation needed]
Mahendra Singh Dhoni breaks the stumps of a South African batsman during a match in Chennai in 2008.

Dhoni tends to play mostly from the back foot with a pronounced bottom hand grip. He has a very fast hand speed through the ball which often results in the ball racing across the ground. From this initial stance his feet do not show much movement which sometimes results in chasing balls while not coming to the pitch of the ball or inside edging a lot of balls.

Dhoni scored 148 against Pakistan in his fifth ODI match in 2005 — then the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper. Later in the year, he broke his own record as well as set the current world record for the highest score in the second innings in ODI matches as he scored 183* against Sri Lanka. Dhoni's success in the limited overs format secured him a place in th

Dhoni India can't search for his alternate
by vivek giri on May 19, 2010 11:35 PM  | Hide replies

nitially recognized as an extravagantly flamboyant and destructive batsman, Dhoni has come to be regarded as one of the coolest heads to captain the Indian ODI side. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, CB Series of 2007–08 , and the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2008 in which they beat Australia 2–0. He also captained Chennai Super Kings to victory in the recent IPL 2010. He is now captain of India in all three forms of the game and also led the team to their first ever bilateral ODI series wins in Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Dhoni also led team India to number one position in ICC rankings in test cricket for the first time. Dhoni has also been the recipient of many awards including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first Indian player to achieve this feat), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour in 2009. As of January 2010, Dhoni is the highest ranked ODI batsman on the ICC Rankings List. Dhoni was named as captain of Wisden's first-ever Dream Test XI Team in 2009 and has topped the list of world’s top 10 earning cricketers compiled by Forbes.[1]. He was named as the captain of ICC World Test and ICC ODI teams for 2009.
