Overconfidence.........

Afghanistan took international level very lightly. All the players looked vary careless and over confident.

They will learn from experience.

I will agree to a certain extent. They looked to take three steps at a time and then fell. But not a bad effort at all, few more years and who knows they might just beat the top nations.

Yeah, they may end up as a good team in say a decade provided the situation in their nation returns to at least a semblance of normality. They seem to have some talent with the natural exhuberance and flair for playing good cricket. Hope the outing in this WC will inspire them to do better in coming years.

I would say they have done well to reach here in such short time and it would be good from india's part to use it as diplomecy to provide support to Afgan Cricket

They looked more committed and fired up than UAE,Bangladesh on Debut. Give them a couple of years, they will turn into World Beaters provided they don't turn corrupt like their Pakistani neighbors. Good luck to them! Liked their enthusiasm and fighting spirit.... pretty charged up folks..

Afganistan play brilliantly....
by kumars on May 06, 2010 04:01 PM

Afganistan played briliantly against both India and South Africa. I think they are better than present Zimbabwe/scotland/etc. If they get good exposure, then they can be good time in the sub-continent...

Best wishes to Afganistan.....

Cricket and terrorism
by Nandakumar Muthukrishnan on May 06, 2010 02:05 PM  | Hide replies

Paki cricketers are known to be related to terrorists, like Miandad with Dawood etc. India Paki cricket is interesting not because of sports, its because of religion.
Paki cricket revenue is shared with Paki govt who sponsors jihadi terrorism in India.
Hence, there is guarantee that afgan cricket revenue will be used to sponsor anti-india activties. This will be definite if Taliban come back again. Rather than getting too sentimental and appreciative for nothing in the name of sports and secularism, Indians should start thinking about their safety and development instead of afgans

It just only the fact that Afghanistan was not good enough to play agst a test playing nation. what ever they were doing before the tournament, they should understand that they need long way to go before competing at this level. God Bless Them.
