The people in the Island nation stopped taking Cricket seriously and concentrating more on Basketball. The number of Jamicans entering NBA has been slowly increasing for past 2 decades. Also the perks are too high compare to peanuts they can get from Cricket and IPL. It will not be too far when WI will become like other minnow countries and soon will fade away from World Cricket. Cricket will be played only by very few countries in Future with Indians dont want to sweat too much compare to other sports(footbal, basketball, etc) will hold on to this tightly forever!!!
rain at any time lazy locals that always sleep and drink, do not care abt game. They don't even know what's going on. Ppl wake up midday and we have matches from 930am Dwindling interest in cricket for two decades now. No local talent. Soccer is king. No local excitement for a cricket tournament Logistical disaster - travel between islands. Poor in-ground facilities There was clear in the 2007 WC that was a non-event in the end.
even though icc is no marketing genius like modi.. they could hve hosted it anywhere in the world.. n got a better response n tv timings for asia.. australia, south africsa, england, all they found is the dull n dead WI.. nonsense.
icc has not learnt anything from 2007 disaster.. WI is the worst in terms of timing, weather, marketing, infrastructure and pitches crowd response is indifferent and for most major asian markets.. its too inconvenient when u can't even have complete t20 matches.. its just rubbish ..
T20 format should give batsmen a maximum of 24 balls only to face. on completion of 24 th ball he has to retire. like the bowler who is given a maximum of 4 overs only. that will make the game more balanced and fast paced.
WI is one of the worst places to conduct T20 event of any caliber more so being this a world cup . Whole world knows the un predictible weather or WI it rains for half of the day and shines for the rest more over the pitches there are dead slow with out field almost like beach with the ball struggling to move .... how can u expect the game to be intresting in such sluggish environment with all the matches struggling to stretch beyond 10 ovs due to rain . The crowd is also not great i dont think they enjoy cricket we see most of them sleeping in the ground . WI is a place where people get up mostly after 10 am they have a laid back lifestyle ur starting matches at 9.30 am whic hs horrible , pls think before scheduling such events . more over all matches happen during the time zone when most of the cricket playing / following nations will be sleeping.
