IRRESPONSIBLE GILLY
by phaneeswar on Mar 29, 2010 07:48 AM  | Hide replies

I think Gilly irresponsible batting is hurting Chargers winning. I think Gilly should stay till 14 overs and bat and it would be a easy task for other players to bat and I think 173 is chase able target despite heroics from Bhajji but the Chargers batsmen didn't played collectively which has costed them a lot. We lack a batsmen who can bat at any irrespective of the situation.
I don't understand why vaas is dropped?

Harbhajan got him of the 2nd ball so 'Gilly' was not able to make use his 'danda'!

I think Gilly should surprise one n all by not opening d innings because only spinners are introduced when gilly is on d crease

Let us not be unreasonable. Gilly's strength lies in his ability to get his team off to flying start. No one else in DC is better suited to exploit the 1st 6 overs. It will be a mistake to write him off after just 1 or 2 failures! He is still a match winner and without his performance last year, DC could not have won IPL however much the other players may have contributed.

Chargers rely on Gilly and if they dont get good start then they find in catch 22 situation

DC got their batting order wrong for Indian pitches!!
by Crickbufff on Mar 29, 2010 07:31 AM  | Hide replies

Gilly and Rohit should open!
#3 Gibbs, #4 Symonds
I think Laxman should always play and come in at #5!!!
#6 Suman, #7 Vaas #8 Venugopala Rao #9 Rahul Sharma #10 RP #11 Ojha

And if they go with Roach or Harris then Vaas has to make way! But given the form of Vaas this season I would play him in every single match in the sub-continent!!

WHY SINGLE OUT BAHJJI DO U CARE HOW OTHERS DO! TELL ME ONE BOWLER OR BATSMAN WHO SCORES IN EVER MATCH. wake up my dear and accept the realities. nobody becomes world class just by showing off. Bhajji is an altime great and 2nd best offie after murli. He is a fighter and he has proved it again and again

Bhajji the nemesis
by B M on Mar 29, 2010 07:04 AM

Bhajji is proving once again to be the nemesis of the Australian players. He opened the bowling against CSK and removed Hayden in his first over. He opened the bowling again against DC and removed Gilchrist for a duck of the 2nd ball! And not to talk of his batting today!!!! Keep it up Bhajji.....

DC is over dependent on Gilly
by Take That on Mar 29, 2010 05:26 AM  | Hide replies

Once Gilly is out, I dont see anybody in the line-up really talking it to the opposition. Gibbs and Symonds are not in good form. Ditto for Rohit Sharma.

I think, DC is making mistakes of utilizing all the power hitters in the begining itself... A day of bad luck will leave all the unexperienced ones to do the job for them which may or may not click.

I think Gilly should save either Gibbs or Symonds to come at 3 down or something. Most importantly, depending on situation they must adapt quickly and re-shuffle the batting order.

180 is no more a safe score if opposition batsmen clicks. We have seen that during couple of matches where RR nearly pulled out an upset against MI and MI pulled out a victory against Chennai even after having 180 some on board.

From DC's track record so far it has been either Gilly or nothing. His furious batting used to make every total look achievable. Once he gets out, even 150 looks like a mountain to climb. Whether Gibbs And symonds come at 2, 3 or 4 they have to start scoring big.

it will b interesting to see MI batting if Sachin falls early...

After securing the SF spot, MI shud consider resting Sachin for couple of matches... early to say that though...

They are not over dependent on Sachin. Till now Saurabh Tiwary, Ambati Rayadu, Sikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan and to some extent Bravo & Pollard has contributed to the innings beside Sachin. Need little bit of maturity in the young guns so that they can change the style quickly in a given situation. Beside that, All izz well !

Sachin the captain
by Rick Shaw on Mar 29, 2010 03:53 AM  | Hide replies

Generally, he is not considered a genius captain (like Dhoni & Dada) but today's decision to open the bowling with Bhaji's spin was a master stroke to counter Gilchrist's aggression agianst fast bowling...& it paid off!!!!

Having a genius in your side makes the team succeed. No wonder the credit goes the the captain after every team victory. But Sachin's over 20 years in crcket and the records & innings speaks for itself. Blessed to have him playing.

Although nobody doubts his batting, Sachin was never a good captain. So his genius is not attributed to his captaincy.

Sachin own record as captain was better, what failed was the performance of surrounding players during his captaincy. Almost everyone played irresponsible innings during sachin's captaincy, dunno whether it was intentional.

from top 25 run getter of this IPL , Sachin is the only one with just one six against his name....and still he is lying second behind Kallis...This shows that if you have class, you still can be better than so called Twenty-Twenty specialists...

Word best is vector quantity but mostly people use it a scalar quantity. So without direction or dimension, its difficult to adjudge what is best and in what sense. For example performance is scalar quantity but result oriented performance is a vector quantity. Sachin is undoubtedly best but in fixed dimensions and directions. East and West are too vague to say that.

byw scalar isn't even real...everything exists in vector space and will be vectors ..scalar is a mere oversimplification of vectors
