Gilchrist was searching for options as he had bowled out the quota of 4 overs for vaas , r.p.singh , symonds and ojha as well ......... Rohit sharma had 1 over in his sleeve and had conceded 19 runs but was a dangerous option considering the pace that Irfan pathan was going at so he decided to bring Jaskaran singh to bowl the penultimate over of the match ...........
In the very first ball , Pathan needed a 6 to be hit to take the pressure off for the remaining 5 balls and heaved it straight to the deep only to be taken by symonds ........ Jaskaran had done the trick leaving pathan and Kings XI Stunned as they had almost tasted their 1st win in 3 matches .......... Jaskaran then followed the wicket with 2 dot balls to sreesanth and although sreesanth did hit 3 boundaries the wicket off the 1st ball and the 2 dot balls did the trick as Jaskaran bowled well under pressure and the charges escaped with a 6 run win ..........
Kings XI Punjab were expected to be favorites at this stage as they had an impressive batting card with big hitters and in form batsman like bisla and bopara with capable performers like Yuvraj , sangakarra , jayawardana but when they came out to bat it was like a horror film unfolding as they got out to reckless shots leaving bopara stranded at one end and when the mounting run rate got too much he decided to join his team in the dug out.........
At this juncture , It looked like Kings XI Punjab would fold to a score less than Rajasthan Royals ie 93 All out but Irfan pathan made life miserable for Deccan Chargers as he belted a whirlwind knock of 60 off just 29 balls with 3 hits to the fence and 5 magnificient hits over the ropes with piyush chawala giving him support at the other end with 9 off 13 balls ........
At this stage Deccan Chargers need a breakthrough to inflict more pressure on pathan since he was batting with authority and was taking the match away from the Deccan Chargers ......... R.P. Singh provided the much needed break for the chargers getting rid of Chawla who tried to flick it to the square leg fence but was caught by ojha ........ Bipul sharma came to the arena and kept the strike ticking and it all mounted to the final over with 19 runs left to be got from 6 deliveries.........

Deccan chargers started really well and were exactly at 100 for 1 wicket at the 10th over with Gilchrist and Gibbs going really good and it was obvious that they were looking for a 200 plus score which was on the cards. Kings XI Punjab had nothing going right until Gilchrist decided to go for a shot too many and got himself out ......... It was then that Kumar Sangakarra brought out his trump card AKA Yuvraj Singh ...... the part time off spinner got rid of gibbs with a ball that crashed into the stumps and then an impressive throw from mahela jayawardana got rid of rohit sharma ....... then bipul sharma got rid of anirudh singh for a duck and Kings XI Punjab were well and truly in the hunt with the Deccan Chargers down from 100 for 1 to 112 for 4 in a matter of 10 balls .......... Then came the Innings from Symonds and with decent contributions from suman and vaas Deccan Charges moved to 170 in their allotted 20 overs ......... It was a great effort from Kings XI Punjab to just give 70 runs in their last 10 overs after they had conceded 100 runs off the first 10 overs but had Kumar sangakarra cleanly taken the ball from yuvraj singh and had he stumped Suman Deccan chargers would have struggled to even get to 150 ........ Suman's reprieve made Kings XI Punjab pay as he smashed 26 off 22 balls comprising of 2 fours and a six and that tilted the balance in Kings XI Favor.
This is to show why Kings XI Punjab lost a match they so easily could have won against the Deccan Chargers .
