Great Kapil.. Very happy to hear that Kapil is inducted into ICC hall of fame. Kapil is the best cricketer India has ever seen.He is the greatest allrounder I have ever seen. People need to remember his efforts to take the world cup 1983.
Kapil was undoubtedly one of the greatest natural cricketers. His bowling was classic, batting audacious and fielding very consistent. For most part of his career he was like a one man army. Remember the Ahmedabad Test vs WI in 1983 in which he bowled 32 overs from one end without break taking 9 wickets. But for that kind of workload, he would not have got knee problems. Can anyone name any fast bowler or medium pace bowler who has the ability to take up that kind of effort? Who can captain his country to World Cup victory at the age of 24? In a series in England, each time he went to bat we thought he would break the record for the fastest century in Tests, missing the century by small margins each time. Or, who can hit the 4 consecutive sixes to avoid the follow-on with the last man at the other end? His exploits are too many. I will stop with one question - Kapil was never the most flamboyant of fielders, but can anyone recall any catches he had dropped or misfielded? In my opinion, he was a better all-rounder than those elite allrounders in his era.
