Great article. Feel so nostalgic about those days, how we used to listen to the radio commentary. Nothing can beat those simple pleasures with family and friends crowding around the radio or transister. Gary was is and will be God.
Sobers bowls a bouncer at Lillee as retaliation for Lillee constantly bouncing him and then an offspeed ball gets Lillee out caught Bedi. No helmets in those days.
Next Innings we have the young Lillee bowling to Sobers who was nearing career end and getting hammered all around the ground.
Some interesting talk there too with Ian Chappell the Aus Captain.

There is also a clip of Lillee 8-29 at Perth against the World XI. Incidentally Gavaskar is first out caught Marsh bowled Lillee to an absolute snorter of a bouncer.
lucky!!!!!! he was not born when the greatest player in this universe started playing cricket on nov 15 1989 else his carrer will be over like many other, but the god still remain god.

Your name defies logic and so is your brain.- Sorry to be so blunt. It is clear you do not have any "binay" - chuck that out and say I am an "idiot"

Ya the Greatest player having represented 6 world cups and not a part of single world cup winning Title! Incidentally, India won the Twenty -Twenty 2007 World Cup, when this LEGEND was rested.

lara. ponting and sachin. out of 3 only ponting have world cup but not because of his greatness, it aus team which is great. one player can win one or two match on his own not entire tournament. remember 2000 tour of aus when sachin was capt. dravid and ganguly failed (laxman score century in lost when series and match was already lost)and india lost all matches even though sachin was man of the series

yeah yeah, so u mean pushpakumara is a greater player than lara becoz he was part of the 1996 world cup team...great logic !
Indeed he was the greatest allrounder in test cricket.Who can forget his test innings of 365 not out for which he was remembered for decades. Sir Garry will be counted as one of the greatest cricketers of 20th century.
Gary Sobers has always been my hero. Even after achieving so much, he is very modest. look at the last sentence of the above para, he made Nash also a hero after he had concede the maximum in an over. he was a true all rounder and has led west indies by personal example and great leadership. A true legend and a wonderful sportsman..hats off to u.

Gr8 pick Sundaram, I am sure most of the buggers here would not have even read this article to notice this. They are just here to put their shit on the forums. I am also impressed with Malcom's reply also 'I want you to know you could not have done it without me!'. I was wondering how Sreesanth or Bhajji would have reacted if it had happened against them. :-)

Dude, Malcolm was hinting that he wantedly bowled it short and helped Sobers with his record. Probably he also wanted to be remembered as the bowler who gave away 6 sixers in an over for the first time.
Innumerable adjectives & phrases won't be enough to praise the mortal called Garry Sobers. In true sense he was an epitome of cricketing skills. A genius who can excel, be it bowling (both pace, swing & spin), batting & fielding. He was a great sportsman & umpires were not needed to adjudicate him. A born gambler & risk taker, otherwise how he could have lost a match to England after scoring 500 in the first innings & a bold declaration in the second. A true GOD of cricket to grace the cricketing arena. How fortunate we to have him as guest now!!

One more sporting genius - Sir Vivian Richards must be there. There was no one like Sir Viv , the king of them all.
