Gavasker is no doubt the greatest among Batmen
by KR DAsharathi kadambi on Aug 12, 2016 07:02 PM

It is beyond any doubt that Sunil Gavaskar has not only been the best batsmen against pace bowling but also the best batsmen perhaps in the world. He had no weakness of any kind against pace or medium pace or even spin bowling. This fact some how gets hidden because either people are not large hearted or have petty thinking and avoid praising him. He has played so well to prove this point against all the countries of the world always dominating the bowling. This recognition will some day come up, as truth cannot lay hidden for ever. I have seen many batsmen praised as greatest struggling even to make few runs against spinners of India!

The Best List is..

Gavaskar had the technique,Dravid the temparament,Sachin had the Flair,Amarnath had the courage,Vishwanath-laxman and Azhar had the elegance. But the player who has been argued over to never possess all these happens to be my top of the list.
Scored two triple 100s and missed out on a third.Has the best strike rate in test cricket and good average to boot.Performs well against good teams overseas. His innings mostly decides the fate of the match. With him on crease, every target looks chasable,if he is out the plan B is mostly for a Draw.
His Name is Sehwag and he is the best.

Dravid/Gavskar-third.

Best Batsman

Shows how the Greatest of great crickets have memories that fail them. For instance, Gavaskar never played Colin Croft in a Test Match. Gavaskar's numbers against WI are not actually as great as they are made out to be. Plenty of those runs came against second rung WI sides. He has 3 centuries to flaunt against a full blown WI attack out of which 2 of them were completely inconsequential as the matches were petering out to a draw. They helped mainly in boosting his average. He is great though. Sachin is certainly not as great as Viv, the domineering genius. Viv's attitude towards making runs brought his average down to 50.32. His attitude towards batsmanship was, as Michael Holding stated in an interview, was more towards ensuring that WI had just enough runs in the bank for bowlers to bowl against. Those days a total of 300 was enough for the awesome quartet to wreak havoc and for WI to win the game. Viv did not care about accumulating runs for the sake of it. There are several instances were he was happy with just destroying the leading bowlers in the opposition camp and then got out carelessly, but with the satisfaction that the deed was done. So please, no comparisons, if personalities with the "never say die" attitude and the caliber of Denniss Lillee , Jeff Thomson and Imran Khan admit openly that were scared to bowl at Viv, we need to take notice of it and acknowledge the fact.

Gavaskar is definitely the best test batsman
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jul 31, 2010 02:37 PM

Sachin is not as good when the pitch is tuff. No back-2-the-wall heroics like VVS's 281.
Or like Gavaskar's two 100s in the same test with Imran at his imperious best.

No wonder experts don't rate any of his innings in the all-time great list.

He is below Gavaskar as a batsman...

Gav/Sachi
by Indian on Jul 28, 2010 03:16 PM  | Hide replies

Both the batsman are good but Gavaskar and sachin are played for them self and not for country. If they played for country they would have brought the world cup to india and also always both th guys are concentrated more on records and not in team intrests. That's y they have lot of individual record on their name.

Even if you look in to the both the careers can't find any single hand winning of final matches for indian cricket. If you look 1983 final match gavaskar sit on corner when indian players are enjoying with the cup and sachin never played final match with intrestingly

You people are blaming Sachin simply...I just as one doubt...In 1983 WC final, did Kapil Dev scored a fifty? No, But u are not blaming him just because of his charismatic innings of 175* against Zimbabwe without which India could not have been in the finals.
U r blaming Sachin with the point that he is not performing in the finals...If u r an Indian u will not forget the 134 scored by sachin in the final of Sharjah cup against Australia and won the title single handedly...And in the 2003 world cup, his performance can not be neglected which led india in to the finals...

I think both are great batsman India has produced . The era decides Don bradman during his times was greatest , Gavaskar during his period and Now Sachin is in his time of present . The time and Laurels and ofcource records produced are only the measure to choose from.

Since when Parathas started making remarks on cricket and one of its most celebrated exponent. Parathas are meant to be eaten if it is tasty. Parathas should stay in kitchen or parathawalla galli.
