It is really a great news. Many young Indian consider Sachin as an Idol. With Sachin becoming an Honorary member of IAF will inspire many young Indian to join the force. Personal Criticism of Sachin does not make any sense. Every country of the world has Civilian or Honorary members in there respective airforce, there is nothing wrong in it.

Honouring him with Bharat Ratna is one thing, giving an honorary position in Air Force or Army is another. This is very common in many countries, why people are only after Sachin Tendulkar?

People do not know what to oppose and what to support. They just have jealousy for Sachin Tendulkar's achievements. Why people are not opposing when someone like Akshay Kumar or Aishwarya Rai get Padma awards? Those are just instances of insult to the national award. This is an honorary position assigned to an icon of the country.
This should not set bad trend and spoil the reputation and dignity of IAF.Sachin can be brand ambassodor of IAF but wish the commissioned rank decorated with high dignity and pride should not demoralize the Officers of IAF. I hope politicians in the name of social services should not be selected as next Gr capt
what a shame to error force. Do they need this really?....wasting nations time and money. Now approval has to come frm delhi..means lot of govt officers will be doing this meaning assesment for approval. There are lot of really important issue to be addressed. At least, Sachine shd hv rejected their offer. But he will not do that bcoz its coming for free.
Sachin is no doubt a gr8 person. I respect him a lot. He has given us numerous glorious moments. But doesnt mean tht he shd given this post.
Indian govt...think twice and ask sachin to stay on boder for 6 months and get the feel of what army means.

So what? It is an honorary post! If it will encourage at least a few youngsters to join the Air Force the plan can be considered successful. When even a masala powder runs on brand ambassador, people like Sachin joining IAF will encourage many youngsters. This happens in many countries, only in India there is opposition to every idea.

@ Jay, Its a voilation of IAF standards itself. Why do we need sachin to encourage young guns of our country to join IAF????? OK !!! Fine !!! he must be given training to prove himself as a qualified person for the subject post...isn't it right ????

He will be given specific training for sure, even if that is also something he may not be using. Honorary positions are special. This happens in almost all countries.

I agree with joshi up here. we do love sachin a lot, but he is not qualified to become a capton of army. Indian government should think about whole country rather than looking at an indivisual. My advice to sachin is dont waste your tallent in doing the things which are not of your concerns and reject the proposal at very first place....
