all these so called young players are utter flops at international level...not even good for cleaning shoes of "rahul dravid"......a lots of"idiots" and fool are writing a lot of "nonsese" abt dravid....now look at the state of indian team....not even a single player capable of holding the inninse and finish a match....lots of "gully" cricketers are getting an entry into team india through "phalthu" 20-20 format, and "humiliating" performances of team india is continuing at international tournaments......"bunch of jokers" and "idiot" called captain "dhoni" still living in fools paradise, and still hoping that these "phalthu" players are "great" compared to gem of a player dravid.....no one in this indian team played for "team needs" better than dravid...kept wickets for 50 overs, batted at different batting order, most importantly finished important matches....without dravid this indian team is an ordinary team at international yournaments....team india desperately in need of dravid at no.3 position..

Dravid is only good for tests. not for ODI. last world cup our bcci made big mistake they give dravid to lead india. dravid`s good performance in captaincy lead india to worldcup first round exit. what a perfomance ? and another stupid uthappa, his batting avg is 27.10, dinesh karthick is a wicketkeeper batsman better than him.

abe junk dravid is not the fault yr dada was the main problem for making come back he played very good innin against sri in india and in world cup he was playing test match . he was there upto 46 overs and score only 64. same thing he did again sri because his aim was just to make some run with waste of balls so automatically india will be out because of him sachin did not get chance to open an innin.. so don't blame dravid. it is all because of ganguli, and dravid is 100 times batter then pat KARTHIK

Boss try to understand the strategy.

Dinish karthick has been doing good job by protecting the opening slot is not been taken away by any competative players. Its is reserved for Sir Sachin Tendulkar and sir Virendra Shewag.

He is protector of the opening slot, by disgrace himself and not allowing any competative player step in.

This is the strategy of the selectors, still our intention and attitude are the same.

Selectors does not want to trade the opening slot with the competative players. like Robin uthappa or reputed Ranji or 20 20 players.

We of the nation of 130 Crores papoulation and we could not select minimum 11 players who could play international game with the ability to succeed.

Look at the sri lanka had have active papoulation of 1.3 Crore can select 11 playear who can play in the international and the ability to beat any time on a given day.

Are We following the open competition or reserved system of caste, creed, religion, favouritism and baised.

so abstain criticising any individgual player, the are fitting into selector slot.

As every indian cricket lovers know, ability of Karthik is far below to sustain and defend his opening position.

Still he has been given a chance to just safegaurd the position of Mr. Sachin and Shewag.

no "sensible" captain and coach will allow a "test opener" to play at middle order...gambir is the most improved batsman in all formats of the game and he is "not allowed" to open one day inningses because of sachin....gambir is "suffering " b'cause of this....this "master" never played for team needs, never willing to play at middle order in one dayers, only for his 100's.....dravid played at all batting orders successfuly....sachin isnt....
greig chappel exposed sachin's inability to play for team needs at most important middle order during 2007 WC...he failed miserably ....now "shamelessly" hanging to his opening position and still scoring his "personal 100's" on flat pitches against ordinary attack....he should learn frm dravid on how to play for team needs....

this is ridiculous
karthik is brought in team as a cover for sehwag and still gets a chance ahead of already selected players. i think tiwari must have been given a chance ahead of karthik

Kalpesh,
So u want Tiwari to open the innings. If he fails, then his career is over. Karthik was drafted since he can play anywhere and even if he fails not much impact, since his first job is wicket keeping.

Dinesh Karthik is like yesteryears opener W.V. Raman. Who never done good job by Bat then also he is part of Indian Team for so many years.

Naik,
W.V Raman, may not be a great player, but he is the only one who played well against Donald & Co in SA (Where Praveen Amre shined for a brief period). Where even Sachin struggled (only during that tour). Raman scored a good hundred on a seaming pitch, where other players struggled. The only problem with Raman was he was was inconsistent in flat Indian pitches.

Why not Uthappa?
by vicky on Jun 22, 2010 01:43 PM  | Hide replies

Is India lacking any swasbuckling opener? Why do the selectors always bring in Dinesh Karthik or Murali Vijay. Its a very sad state that the selectors cannot look beyond these two players who have been given chances upteem number of times and are yet not able to justify their selection. Robin Uthappa should have been given a chance (if he is fit). This was the right time to try him out as he could be an explosive opener who can be the only replacement for Sehwag amongst the current crop of youngsters.

yes, you are right. If Robin is fit then he is the best replancement for sewag. Sourab Tiwari is in the team why don't they give chance to him after all we are already in Final. Try new face?

Brain dead selection policy
by Talisman on Jun 22, 2010 06:09 AM  | Hide replies

This guy is a specialist opener? What is wrong with this picture? This selection committee led by Sreekanth doesn't have any backup plans. Rather they absolutely have zero plan.

Can this guy be asked to open the indian batting in the world cup? If this is supposed to be a prep. for the world cup, aren't you supposed to try a few options? What has Karthik shown or done to select him here?

This selection committee is destroying the Indian cricket.

Indians are infamous for taking the easy route and going for quick-fix.

It is of no use expecting sensible decision from them--be it selectors or anyone with decision making power.

How many times people become unfit ? Specially this guy Sehwag and the other fast bowler. This BCCI selectors are a bunch of jokers. Why don't they declare them unfit and drop these people for good. They are just coming and playing at their whims and fancies.

There is a limit on how many times you can be unfit specially not every 3 tournament. Why Dhoni or Raina does not fall unfit every 3rd tournament ?
