If they split 40 overs in to two 20 overs innings by each team it is nothing more then a t20 competition where it will be entertaining but the quality of players will fall down.
ODI 50over format is also a show of character of cricketers. Its a good decent length where every one's caliber is tested unlike in t20 where even a single player can turn the game around....
although I like t20 game the proposal of 40 over game of two innings is close to t20 format and not a good idea.....

you are wrong, the first innings score and wickets are carried forward to the second innings....so if one team loses 4 wickets in the first innings then they start the 2nd innigs at 4 wickets down
to the betterment of Cricket this can be applied some international matches to test the fun it will be to the sports. ICC is heavily backed up by India and we know that our people dont want to try anything different. Bring Kapil Dev back into BCCI as he is a person who likes to experiment.
