I think Mcgrath was the worlds most one dimensional bowler, and got all his wickets due to patience and accruracy alone. He didnt have the yorker of a wasim, outswing of sreesanth or kapil, bounce of walsh etc. All he used to do is pitch outside off stump time and again, and bore the batsman. But i never remember the likes of sehwag and tendulkar falling to him. They were a few who could hit even good length balls. I feel that more than finn,Ishant if he recovers from his injuries, can go on to be the best, as hes got more pace(150 in 2008)than mcgrath, got a great incutter and can bounce out batsman(ponting 2008).

U must be insane to compare Mcgrath to Shree. What do you mean by variations, Mcgrath can bowl both in and out swingers with nice bounce in any given pitch and conditions, what else you expect from any fast bowler? Do you know his famous bunnies are Lara, Sachin and Atherton etc.

Maybe, but Sachin was one of the few batsmen who dominated him more than he got out. I remember Lara falling many times to him though. Did you forget Sachins assault in the series in 2001?

You must be kidding ! None of the bowlers described by you (Akram, Kapil, Walsh had consistent accuracy and control in their bowling. Talking of Sreesanth (most overrated & indisciplined bowler ever) and Ishant (he wants to carry the WACA perth wicket everywhere), in the same breath is ridiculous. And by the way, Ishant has bowled ONLY 1 BALL above 150 Kph in his entire life (152.6 Kph at the Adelaide Oval). You must be insane man !

Partly agree to the comments. Akram, Kapil, Walsh were as consistent as anyone. McGrath's variations were enough to get him tons of wickets just like Kumble's. Afterall Kumble proved that you do need to turn just about the width of the bat to be effective. Other qualities like patience, outthinking the batsman and fighting spirit worked in their favour.
Finn is just formal bowler and agreed flower comment..Only single player of B'desh who was unbeatable from English bowler..even Finn has been faced tough task to show pavilion to Tamim. No comparision with Mcgrath.
