averages in ODI are lower than what they are capable of achieving?
The answer to this is mediocre but manipulative Dhobi, who always promotes himself ahead of these players when conditions are favorable for bating and opners have given good start, but the same Dhobi hides behind the same players under tough situation.
The result is Dhobi had build a better average for himself and, as a result of this manipulative policy of Dhobi, these players averages have suffered.
Only a fool, who loves mediocrity would deny the above-stated facts that are obvious to any genuine cricket fans.

More than 70% of Dhoni's batting was down the order whereas Yuvaraj's was up the batting order. Even then if Dhoni is having a better average, then it is his commitment to the game. Yuvaraj and Rohit are attending parties (even in the night before the match) and are not doing anything for their fitness also.

why? are you describing mentality Indian people? There have been many and are going to be many jayachands like people in India or I should say in south asia. Most south asians do appreciate others if they feel they are better than them.
leaving aside Sehwag, Nehra, Parveen Kumar, RohitSharma and new comers, is full of overrated players. I do not think this team is capable of defeating other teams purely on merits.
