Abhi, ICC ranking is not idiotic. you are idiotic. what has no. of centuries got to do with ranking? If centuries are all you care about do you think hussey deserves the ranking either? hussey also has no centuries in ENG, SA or AUS. Hussey has so far played 92 odi's in aus, eng and SA and yet to score a century, while dhoni has played 24 odis in aus, eng and SA and yet to score a century. Dhoni and hussey are 2 of the best odi players in the world today and the race for no. 1 spot will continue between them. some people also think that dhoni has too many notouts and that is why his average is better. many seem to agree that hussey is miles ahead of dhoni? how so? if you want to see centuries hussey has so far scored only 2 while dhoni has 7 centuries. hussey has played less odi's than dhoni but still has remained not out more times than dhoni has. Just because hussey is not indian but australian many of you put him on high pedestal. Just because dhoni is indian you want to take away credit from all his consistent and outstanding performances? another major reason that many indians want to belittle dhoni is because in such a short period he has become the backbone of indian batting and stolen sachin's thunder and as diehard sachin fans many of you do not want to share the credit of india's win with anybody other than sachin.

Abhi, One reason that players like dhoni and hussey have less no. of centuries is because they get to play at the top of the order very very few times. hence their chances of scoring centuries also reduces. players like sachin on the other hand nearly always come as openers and so have a much much greater chance to score centuries. players at positions 1, 2 or 3 for example have a very good chance of scoring centuries, but anybody coming lower than that has so much less potential to score century. Take the case of sachin, out of his 431 odi innings so far, he has played at no. 1,2, or 3 positions 329 times with 42 centuries i.e one century every 7.83 innings. at positions lower than that he has played 104 times and scored 4 centuries, i.e. one century every 26 innings. In case of hussey, he has batted at positions 1, 2 or 3 four times in 115 innings with no centuries, at a lower batting position hussey has scored 2 centuries in 111 innings i.e. one century every every 55.5 innings. In case of dhoni out of his 143 odi innings so far he has batted at no. 1,2 or 3 eighteen times with 2 centuries (1 century every 9 innings) while batting lower down the order he has scored 5 centuries in 125 innings, i.e 0ne century every 25 innings. I would also like to make another point. players like sachin who come as openers nearly always get to play their full innings as they remain not out relatively lesser no. of times than those who come lower down the batting order.

Abhi, players like dhoni and hussey on other hand do not get to bat the full innings as many times either the 50 overs are finished or the innings folds up or the winning target is achieved. just imagine how many more runs they can add to their tally of runs if they get to bat their full innings. Like I have pointed out before on this forum in spite of all these things dhoni took 3 innings lesser than sachin to complete 5000 odi runs.

Mr Ashish Kumar, I have given you statistics of what dhoni has achieved when he has come up the batting order many times before. You can compare statistics of both sachin and dhoni at the top of the order. Dhoni's record is not lesser than sachin's in any way. If you want to close your eyes about that I cannot do anything. He may have an unusual technique but he has skill, guts and temperament to play against ANY bowling. He has faced bowlers like steyn, tait, akhtar, johnson, murali etc. and has been successful. I have also given statistics of both sachin and dhoni when they have batted down the order. You can compare that too. If you want to say dhoni is lucky to bat at no. 6-7 when weak bowling is operating and less pressure and also old ball and all that stuff, then why here also sachin lags behind dhoni?

india, dhoni has not monstrously failed, in fact he has been stupendously successful. It is sachin who had failed monstrously as a captain. Dhoni is the pride of india, always leading from the front. Check his record if you don't believe that. Of all the indian captains (and even captains of other countries) he is the only one who has a better record when he is a captain as opposed to when he is not the captain. all other indian captains have let the responsibility of captaincy affect their individual performance. dhoni is made of sterner stuff. The more responsibility you put on him the better he performs and comes out shining. he is one player who has rarely failed in crunch situations. he is a person of integrity and courage. A true WINNER.

India, people like you rave and rant about dhoni because you feel threatened. People like you want some ideal in your life and always want to stick to it. You have made sachin your ideal and want to make him god. If that gives you strength and courage to face your everyday life that's good, nothing wrong in that. but understand that he is also human and has his own shortcomings and deficiencies as any other human being. don't fall in the trap that he is superhuman and can do anything, that he can never fail. don't fall in the trap that whatever he says or does or thinks is always correct and follow him blindly. sachin and dhoni are both greats in their field (Cricket) and have achieved a lot in their life. One's achievement does not make other's achievements any less.

Ashish Kumar, It is you who is a frustrated sachin fan and has lost mental balance. You know sachin's record as a captain. You have nothing to argue against that so you are spewing your venom in this way. Sachin as everybody knows is the worst indian captain till date. Yes it is true that a captain is as good as his team. but even with that a good captain can work wonders and take that good team to a higher level. and a bad captain can make a good team look disastrous. yes any tom dick and harry can captain a good side successfully, if he does a reasonable job. sachin did not manage to do even that. you know who were the captains before and after sachin? azharuddin and ganguly, two of india's most successful captains. if they could do so much sachin should have been able to do much better if he was as good as you think he was. But you know what a mess sachin made of those teams. In the hands of azharuddin the team did so well. When that team was handed to tom dick and harry (sachin) everybody knows what happened. When that tom dick and harry (sachin)'s team was taken over by ganguly everybody knows what happened. so come out of your fantasies and face and accept reality. If you want to claim dhoni did nothing in 2007 T20 WC i suggest you look up the scorecards of that tmt. if your eyes and brains are still working properly you should get the answer.
Just because he lost his No. 1ranking doesn't mean he is useless. I am not a dhoni fan and not a big knowledge bearer of cricket but have a common spirit of sports and really I am surprised to see the reactions of people. Its clearly written that a player loses points if he miss any game. Obviously, this was on the cards. Many people say that its sheer luck but luck alone is not possible for success. Everyone has 2% of luck it depends how much percent of commitment you have in you to make your luck work. Get some break and congratulate Mike Hussey on his achievement instead of bashing Dhoni. I am not saying he is a class player and plays by technique. But he plays and plays well and as long as runs are coming its good. He has done good by taking a break and having some rest. Rankings keep doing ups and down. But the thing is how long you maintain it being on the field.

It looks like it was some Black Magic that had given this number one position to Dhoni.
Otherwise it is next to impossible and even to believe that such a crappy batsmen to ever hold a number one position.
I guess there is a limit on how long a Black Magic will work and so that once it reaches it’s time will start giving the negative results. The same must be happening with Dhoni’s Black Magic; which could be the reason that he is on the losing track now.
