dull pitches r reasons for lack of interest in test matches. at the same time, there r no quality bolrs around the world who vl earn wkt rather than getting gifts from batsman's follies.
now after murli n injured malinga, their attack looks oridnary.
It is no doubt that the pitch was non-responsive but it was not a dead pitch.
The fact of the amtter is Srilanka attack is as poor as India's post Murali-Mallinga. India is fortunate to be world number one in test as they have played most of their matches in last 3-4 years at either home or in sub-continent or with poorly performing countries.
Their bowling attack and their much HYPED world number one tag will get exposed when they will play a FULL strnegth quality team like SA, Australia or England.
The pitch surely has to take some blame but for sure, not all. Both India and Srilanak have poor bolwers who do not know where to pitch the ball and how to be patinet in test crciket to bowl to that corridor of uncertainity.
Can you expect a Macgrath, an Akram, A Waqar, a Hadlee, A Kapil, A Botham, A Zaheer (when fit), A Warne, A Saqlain, A Kumble, and even a Mohammad Amir (new sensation) go wicketless on any pitch in 5 days.
All the big ones like a BHAJJI or a super flop ISHANT, or Fernandos are average bowlers as on given day.
The test cricket is loosing shine not soleyl due to pitches, but due to lack of quality BOWLERS.

Ishant Sharma has definitely lost his rhythm and confidence. I'm betting it has a lot to do with playing in IPL where any bowler gets smashed all over the park. It's important that he goes back to first class cricket and get his line and length right. Though Mithun has no wickets to show, I feel he is a good prospect. Harbhajan has been a disappointment but he never did well against sub continent teams. Also I disagree that India doesnt deserve No.1 rank. They played pretty much everywhere (West Indies, England, New Zealand, Pakistan) and won. They should also have won technically in Australia if it wasnt for the Sydney test. It's only the hypocritical Indians who deny this. They wouldnt be saying this if Australia or South Africa were No.1

true. but charm of ausis or sa team is of their bowling. a macgrath or warne, wud b much better sight to watch. v had good bolrs earlier in kapil, then srinath, but then no good reliable ones not even zaheer.

Let these ordinary medium pacers go to South Africa and they'll become spitting cobras. On these pitches even those south african or australian bowlers will struggle

All the above players have played many series in which they flopped. It is not quality bowlers but quality picthes that are the problem. By the way 75% of the matches get results today compared to some 45% in the previous decades. So more wickets actually are falling...

It is not about white or black or man of any color, it is about how much his knowledge and experience are of importance to cricket fans.
Do you mean they should ask a worthless creature like you to get the right answer?

Do you understand the meaning of flat-track bullies or are just brainwashed by some people because you lack a brain to make your own opinion.
Look at the stats and draw your own conclusions using brain, if you have got one....
Well, Sachin has highest probability of making 50 Test as well as ODI centuries.
Unfortunately, it may not be good for your health--because by that time you might be suffering from stomach ulcer or cancer as result of worrying too much.

Great data.
can you also work out Tendulkar's performance in competitive cricket, ie major tournaments involving more than 3 teams like World cup, ICC Champions trophy etc.
I think he has been a consistent failure in major tournaments since 2003 WC.

Sachin Tendulkar is rising to his special best since Jan 2008 when he was pivotal in winning the triseries in Aus against Aus. Both the finals India won coz of him. Since than he has been big success in crucial and final matches. Its been a delight to watch him since than as now he is prooven matchwinner....

Sudesh Banare,
Do not spoon-feed these brainless creatures, let them work hard to find what they want. Once they have tasted what success is, they will understand contribution Sachin and values he adds.
Any amount of explanation is no good for pathetic souls like S Shrikanth, who loiter here with many different IDs to demean Sachin.

Why are you hell bent on proving that sachin is greatest. Every person who has followed cricket for last 20 years will surely know that. No point in arguing with anyone about this fact.

fantastic mr shrikant u are not an indian i am just giving 1 example VB sereis 2008 1st final sachin had score century and second final he had score 90 in australia vs australia and recently he had score 200 against SA to win the sereies so i beleive u should shft to pakistan or afghanistan that will be the best for you
otherwise, how will our dead pitches Bradmans boost their test average?
Shouldn't Sachin get to 50 test hundresds??
And sponsors' darling Yuvy is feeling left out...he is sad that he missed scoring some easy runs. He is licking his chops and waiting for the next pitch to be of the same lifeless variety.
So, never mind the bowlers, Dhoni. Don't pretend that you feel for them. If you really cared about their workload, you would have picked 5 bowlers. Instead you prefer to protect your (already pampered) batsmen.

go and check the stats of sachin centuries on hard wickets....

why play kumble and chandrasekhar. both are similar sort of bowlers. I will take Subhash Gupte who was the greatest legspinner ever 9accord to sir gary sobers).
Re: Re: Re: Re: Top 25 Test team of India
by Ravindra Joshi on Jul 31, 2010 11:48 AM
you are choosing again a same sort of bowler(Subhash Gupte) in place of chandra/kumble. And in my views Chandra is very much different from Kumble. Chandra is a classic legspinner with googli as a weapon and Kumble is more dependent on his flippers.
