Murali Will Never Get It Right
by Amar Singh on Aug 02, 2010 02:31 PM

The one thing, till the last days of his life,
that no one will ever credit Murali with is
that he was a bowler with one of the "smoothest" actions. LOL!

No one ever has, or ever will question
the integrity of Bishan Singh's action.
Bedi had one of the smoothest slow round-arm action in Test cricket. All the arguments about
his desire for publicity, popularity, and what not, can not take away that simple fact. That cricket is meant to be played by a bowler bowling from over his shoulder, with a straight arm.

Bedi criticizing Murali is like me criticizing Bedi. Bedi/Myself are no one when compared to Murali's achievements! and I know there are better bowlers than me in the world who consider Murali as one of the best to play in our times.

15 degrees
by Murali Krishnan on Aug 02, 2010 03:46 AM

Due to Murali now we have a definite rule how much a bowler can straighten his arm. Its fixed at 15 degree. Its the maximum angle of straightening invisible to naked eye. (Only in TV replays we can observe these) Not only Murali there are a lot of bowlers straighten more that of Murali. So thank you Murali !!

legendry senility

murli lived with these ICC rules for the last 18 years and these rules were available for everyone in the cricketing world. Why, then, another Murli could not be produced for so many years.
As far as Bedi's greatness is concerned it can be very well judged by his statistics of matches away from home.
vs. England - 38.08
vs. Pakistan - 74.83
vs. West Indies - 33.69
vs. Australia - 55.78 (not including the 1977-78 series with third rated australian team under Bobby Simpson)
p.s: these are bowling averages not batting averages.
After seeing (hearing) Khushwant Singh and Bishen Bedi I wonder if senility should be considered as a characterstic of aged Singhs.

Well said! Bedi loves to be in the limelight by making stupid comments and remember how he called ganguly a `proven failure' when ganguly had not even made his debut! How can someone make such a foolish comment? No one dared to take him on as he is considered `great' by our former superstars. Now he has rightfully put in hid place!

No one on Earth can ever scrap Mural's records. It is common sence that new rules will be applicable only for new players and no one can ever nullify old rules retrospectively for records of a game.what you talk is foolish and utter nonsence. One day you would like to tell that Sachins record should be scrapped for some or othe reson. Or a srilankan will tell it just like you told. Mental try to achieve his records. That is positive approach and only coward have negative approach.

Proabably he wants a wax model of him to be displayed in the London musium. How much Wax will be required? Ask BCCI to sponsor for it. He may keep quiet after that

Why do we need wax - Much unlike Gavaskar -Bedi is an unpaid henchman to Brits all his life - he can be parked at the entrance of Madam Tussaud's on the same salary as wax models..

He wants popularity
by sunil mathews on Aug 01, 2010 06:57 AM  | Hide replies

He could not achive anything in cricket, now trying it off the field. I wonder why he is not criticising harbhajan, he doing everything chukking, insulting people, slapping, sledging yet to get some wickets. So if mUrali achieving it only by chucking where is the problem, why not appreciate it. Had he been playing for India he would have been a demi-God now.

@Sunil mathews , how come your dad /granddad didnt get into the team and do well in cricket ?

thats right, just like you they werent good enough, But since they produced a loser like you , they are LOSERS TOO!

bedi has been critical of harbhajan and murali for a while and he has a point. They rules were bent for Bowlers like murali.

So if the rules were unchanged , Murali might have made a far less impact as a bowler than he did in his career.

If bedi did the same as said my maninder singh and others , he would have had 600 wickets long time ago

Some Bediisms

Bedi has expressed strong opinions on many aspects of modern day cricket and has been described as "rarely afraid to speak his mind" . In particular, he is a vehement critic of the bowling action of Muttiah Muralitharan ("if Murali doesn't chuck, then show me how to bowl" which he bluntly refers to as cheating and likens to a javelin throw and more recently, shot putting, saying the Muralitharan "will complete 1000 Test wickets but they would count as mere run-outs in my eyes". He takes a very dim view of chucking, which he calls "a bigger threat than bribing and betting" and claimed in 2004 that many bowlers on the subcontinent chuck, calling Muralitharan a "Sri Lankan bandit closing in on a dream artist called Shane Warne".He has stated, though, that he has nothing personal against Muralitharan , although Muralitharan has threatened to sue him . Recently he has echoed the same criticisms against his countryman, Harbhajan Singh. Regarding suspect actions in cricket, he said "When a bowler is chucking, he's referred to panels and the home cricket board. Why not do the same for a wide or no-ball, then?" . He has accused one-day cricket, modern cricket bats and small grounds of causing a decline in classical spin bowling in India.

He has also attacked Sunil Gavaskar, calling him "a destruct
