He took a wicket of his first ball, correct. But the same match SriLanka score was 954 or something like that Jayasuria and Mahela scored triple centuries.

who cares!!

Just because he was from Mumbai he got a chance to play in a test, otherwise who would have cared? And getting a first ball wicket is a just a luck and is not a proof of his talent. Just because it is cricket related and that too associated with a player from Mumbai, Rediff is publishing this.. what a comedy!!

Selection should be based on Merit and not on regional feelings
by sreenivasulu reddy on Jul 29, 2010 03:07 AM  | Hide replies

It's unfortunate that players like Amol Muzumdar and Nilesh Kulkarni didn;t got the opportunity to national team. I believe these two had the capabiltities had they been selected to indian team. I believe Amol Muzumdar was the most unluckiest of the two. I believe selectors need to select the players based on merit rather on regional feelings / Business ties. I believe the present selection committee is too biased towards Tamil Nadu or Chennai Super Kings which is not good for indian team. Even the results of indian team now a days is too pathetic because of these regional feelings from Srikanth.
I believe in the present team, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj, Dinesh Karthik can be shown the door. Atleast selection committee should start looking into quality players like Rahane, Rayudu, Pandey, Pujara etc. Please don;t make them as other Amol Muzumdars.

Hey, when Amol Mazumadar was at his top, we had other 4-pillars available in Indian team at that time - Dravid, Sachin, Laxman and Ganguly.
This was hs unfortunate that he was at the top during that period.

Selection should be on merit only and should not be a charity. The aussies drop players when they feel tthere is somebody better. healy was dropped after a test in Zimbabwe.

My heart goes out to Nilesh and other players who have gone out this way. So what if they couldn't represent India at the country level for long, they still had the desire to play at the Ranji level all their career.

Kudos to them!
