I believe Sri Lankan pitches are too flat and ball comes onto bat very nicely. There is nothing for spinners and pacers. You can see Sri Lakkan playing very well in home and when they go to Australia or England, they are totally clueless. I believe it is better for indian team to stop visiting Sri Lanka too frequently. If you play little cautiously, you can make 100 very easily in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan series helps only to inflate Batsmen averages and nothing else. There is nothing for Batsmen to learn in this series.

Yes, u are right. The pitches seem to be flat decks, good for only batting and a nightmare for bowlers. Even in the first test, it was more of our batting horrors that did us in.
All our batters on this pitch need to do is to stay focused, eschew horror strokes and runs are bound to follow.

Mira - India lost the first test because our batsman made too many mistakes. played too many bad shots.

Mira Ji, it was more of our batters poor shot selection that led to the downfall. However, our bowling lacked the teeth, and without some of our best bowlers, we looked off color.

India's hopes for equalizing have been badly shattered by Sangakara and Jayawardane. No team can lose a match after scoring over 600 runs in the first innings. All of you gentlemen have rightly pointed out that loosing the first test was our batsmens own doing. They must try to save this test and try and win the third test if they have to remain at the top spot.God bless.....

Unfortunately there are only 9 nations that play cricket on a professional level with 2 nations like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe who should'nt be playing in the professional level as they do not have the side to challenge anyone. And as Pakistan won't be a venue for the forseeable future and Zimbabwe's political tug of war insuring Australia England not visiting there that leaves out 7 host countries. India is playing too much Sri Lanka because they are'nt playing against Pakistan and dont want to play more with Bangladesh.

Agree with you Arvind. What I am saying is that we are playing with Sri Lanka too frequently. Last two years, we played close to 40% of matches with Sri Lanka. I believe it is better to play with countries like South Africa, England, Australia, Pakisthan or West indies once a while. The biggest problem in Sri Lanka is pitches are too flat. You can score very heavily in Sri Lanka if you apply yourself properly

U have summed it up well. I feel with India-Pak matches becoming irregular as it is now, it will be India-Lanka series that will become more frequent. But it has become too frequent so much the players from both teams had commented on the ame.
Bangladesh is talented team, who knows in another 3 years time, they may become like Lanka was in the 1990s.
When SRLs visit India, Indian Captain wins all the tosses, elect to bat in all matches, scores 500 runs in first innings consuming 1 1/2 to 2 days, and if the pitch start turning, which happens more often than not, win the match.
When Indians visit Srilanka, same steps are repeated, but this time by Srilankan captain.
It appears that BCCI and SRL Board have some kind of unsigned agreement for the last couple of years--you scratch my back we will scratch yours.

This guy LG is a big idi0t. They keep making statements based on guesstimates, call other people names based on what they think. These people are a threat to the unity of the nation and should be thrown out.

There's a saying : "First impression is a lasting impression"...You have really "impressed" so many people in this forum...Even for a mental,I say,CONGRATULATIONS.
Colombo stadium never had a good pitch for fast bowlers. Sri Lankan greats use to easily win games chasing here against sides like Australia. Fielding young medium pacers[making their debut] on this pitch is laughable. If Pakistan has a batting side rated just above Bangladesh. Without experienced quick bowlers India has the worst bowling side as of now. Spinners were also disappointing. Sri Lankan plan has worked remarkably on a dead senile wicket pile runs more than enuff and then let the Indian batsmen dig themselves out,at best to save the match.

Colombo SSC ground is known as a batting paradise since long. It has always been a fav with the batsman who can inflate their run collection and boost their average.
