Steve Waugh, former Aussie cricket captain, makes for a great ambassdor for Australia - be it cricket, politics, social causes, humanities, diplomacy, family man, etc - and not necessarily in that order!
Good on ya, mate!

Murali's bowling regarded as "Chucking"

If Ben Johnson's Gold Medal won in 100 m
race in Seoul Olympics could be stripped off
why not Murali's achievement in international
cricket be eyed in the same.

I agree. he was a chucker, what i dont understand is what was the need for ICC to change the law specially for murli. They changed the law to suit an individual, from a 5 degree bent to 15 degree bent in arm.

Sri Lankans cant take wickets without chucking or cheating in some way. So they learn these type of cheap tricks and cry racism when someone criticizes them.

Yes, I agree. Malinga is still a softball player in the guise of a cricketer. Sri Lanka always boasts of Murali, Malinga and
earlier Rumesh Ratnayake in the past for obnoxious balling action.

Great message from a great cricketer and a great man
by TruthAndFact on Jul 27, 2010 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

Thanks Waugh for putting things in the perspective. Yes players like Murali and Sachin are hard to find, Cricket would benefit a lot if it finds atleast one or two cricketers of this calibre in the next 50 years.

I agree with you. But do you agree that Bradman is not the best batsman in the world because he never played games with 20 overs and games under so many highly skilled bowlers. He played mostly under cool test conditions lasting for 5 days and relatively comfortably and carefully which is not at all the game of today.

Mr. Vittal r u dreaming or love to criticise anything which comes into your mind. If Bradman was not the best batsman then why the 70-80 other batsman who played cricket in the same period never came close to half of his average of 99.96. Conditions were same for everyone and moreover Batsmen of that period didnt enjoy the the luxury of only one short ball, small boundries, batsmen friendly pitches and lot of accessories to save themselves. Mind it whenever you blog or open your mouth.

Waugh said the current system was pretty good and added that "it's generally such system that when you are on top, you don't complain."
