Ban IPL
by ram esh on Jul 24, 2010 10:09 PM

Major reason for India's loss in the first Test against Srilanka was IPL. Players like Zaheer Khan and Sreesanth could not play due to the overkill of cricket like IPL where the franchises demands more from the players. So they risk their fitness during IPL and not able to play for their country when needed

Very right. But who has the courage and will to ban it. The most powerful people are involved in investing their black money, havala money in it and they are multiplying it. They are paying everyone - past players, new palyers, commentators, the media - evrybody so nobody writes or utters a single word against IPL. So a ban is impossible. What one can do is MASS BOYCOTT. Just don't talk about, read about it or see it. Just switch off the matches on TV. IPL is a big Tamasha, The team owners have no love for cricket. Otherwise they could have attended the test matches, done something for the Ranji players , built stadiums all over to promote the game. The just want want exploit the common man's love for cricket.

but t20, f50 has spoiled indians & fail in test

Cricket Down Down
by J Priya on Jul 24, 2010 09:39 PM  | Hide replies

Please Indian government and other private participants promote soccer in INDIA, rather than pumping money for the useless cricket where most of the matches are fixed. India with 100 crore population could not even play world cup qualifying matches where as countries like paraguay, uruguay, holland, slovakia etch with less than 10 million population are able to reach quarter, semi & final of the soccer world cup.

Well they defeated Australia in Australia and won at home, England in England as well as home, New Zealand in New Zealand, won a test match in South Africa, beat Sri Lanka at home, beat Pakistan when they last met..Then why do you think they are over hyped..

Not just India. Even Australia and other teams are not as great as made out to be. Sri Lanka are lions at home and sheeps abroad. Can't remember Sri Lanka winning any matches outside Sri Lanka(maybe in Pakistan once) But it is almost impossible to beat Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. They are invincible at home.

Who cares ....
by SekharaM on Jul 24, 2010 07:25 PM  | Hide replies

There is so much cricket nowadays that the loss of one or two tests or even the series does not matter. Yound blood, old hand, favored player ... they are all the same. They play for themselves and not for the country.
The players, selectors, coach and the cricket-crazy public are to be blamed for this tamasha of cricket series between India or Sri Lanka.
Players from other countries are doing better because they get some time off and less money .. in India it is the money that drives the players to get into the team .. there is no fire in them to play and win the games.
The whole team and the selectors suck ...
Murali, Malinga or none of them, I will not be surprised if India gets beaten again in the second Test. They just do not have the bowlers and the fielders to get the Sri Lankan team in two innings.

I see lot of people talking about "Players playing for themsleves" I think this statement has been stretced too far. After all a player has to play for himself. When a player shines, India Shines and only when India shines due to his effort will he get a good rating/money. If a person plays for himself without caring for team performance, people wont like it and consequently his ratings (for ad) will go down rapidly. So it is a cycle. So every player knows that when his/her play contributes to the team, he personally also gains a lot. So I think this theory of players playing for themselves is completely baseless, falthoo talk,

Every body in all fields work absolutely for their personal gain then why only the players will play for the country why they will not see their personal gain.I think this is very very injustice to the players to say in this way

Srikanth is clueless
by TruthAndFact on Jul 24, 2010 07:04 PM  | Hide replies

He's basically clueless when it comes to team composition. Srikanth always has the tendency to back senior players out of respects, but as a chief selector I cannot see any reason for to persist with oldies.

These days VVS Laxman for his class would score a century every and a half century atleast in one out of four tests. The same scoring rate in Australian standards means the player would be kicked out.

Anyway how many youngsters have actually broken through in Srikanths-Dhoni tenure? It was under Ganguly almost all the current top players were developed, even Greg Chappel in his short stint made it a point to persist with youngsters especially in test cricket. But now we have gone backwards, the senior players have lost their hunger and would deliver only to cement their spot, its not enough for us to win but it would encourage the clue less cheeka to continue his rubbish selctions for long.

Our young guns fare very very pathetically in pitches outside India. How come u knw the senior players lost hunger?
Ys aussies kicked out players...no wonder they lost to pakistan in 4days...
Whn u say something say it with examples and with good cricketing sense...
do not make any nonsense.

Yes you are right no youngstar is coming up now a days. Their performance in recent past is really pathetic. Like GANGULY no body is able to groom the youngstar with proper guidence and encouragement. In that respect present captain is totally flopped. Same to present coach. One GANGULY like character must come in india team to save the GANGULY'S " TEAM INDIA "

ajith hope your memory is right as well. The so called seniors were young guns once and they had a tough time themselves when they played outside for the first time. That is how it goes. Only with exposure one learns how to deal with it. Nobody is born with it nor indian conditions provide that practice.

Pressing questions...
by shi vak on Jul 24, 2010 06:28 PM  | Hide replies

The chief selector had said that half-fit players wouldn't be selected at all. What happened to that stand while selecting Harbhajan for the first test?

When did Sresanth become India's pace spearhead to be spoken along the lines of Zaheer?

Ishant is inexperienced?

Hmmm... Every loss has always some excuses where as every victory comes with a lot of "planning and execution!" All we need to do is to have a good laugh and move on to our own business!
