how to choose test players
by veerapuram dharan on Jul 23, 2010 03:25 PM

well, ODI and T20 are meant to murder the bowlers..so any one without technique acan play both ODI and T20..test cricket is all about temparament, test of skills and talent..a batsman needs to show he can stay the whole day in the middle, either score or without score...so technically, only dravid, sachin and laxman fit into test cricket scheme of things..well, our viru is very lucky to have survived test cricket of so long, even though he is feared by many..and yuvi and dhoni can never fit into any test team as they are woefully short in calling themselves test batsmen..and bhajji is the most over rated spinner in the world..he is fit to bowl only in indian conditions, can slap his team mate, cant control his temper, cant flight the ball, which is the prime ingredient for a spinner...
here should be the test team based on years of domestic performances:

1. sehwag - luck favours the brave
2. gambhir - yes, he has played lots of domestic games and still needs to be given a chance.
3. dravid
4. tendlia
5. laxman
6. pujara or rohit
7. dinesh kartik/ parthiv
8. sreesanth
9. mithun
10. ashwin
11. zaheer

12. ishant
13. ojha
14. ganapathy

well, y only murali's 800??
by veerapuram dharan on Jul 23, 2010 03:13 PM

with muralis 800 hogging limelight everywhere, no one has pointed accusing fingers at our spineless display..are our players above fans like us or even above india?? can they not be questioned for their non performance even though they might earn crores worth of deals from useless ads?? well, we have the icc rankings to show that dhoni, sehwag, sachin and dravid are still on top and india is still on top, so y to worry kind of attitude prevailinge over the minds of bcci bosses...can any one slap the accountability on every player and ask them to perform or perish?? will teh selectors led by chika take acountability and resign??will gary resign??wil sachin and dravid retire for they have been into these kind of situations before and they should have applied themselves...

True legends of Crickets ( with explanation)
by LG on Jul 22, 2010 08:11 PM  | Hide replies

1. Bradman--highest average nobody will ever get there

2. Sachin--is the only batsman who is the best in all form of games-ODI, Test, and T20.

3. Warne--the best finger spinner, we will not see another one like him

4. Murali--controversy aside, no one can break his records of 800 wickest, great spinner

5. Sobers--the best all-rounder played the game, our Kapil comes next in the list considering the pitched he bowled on, his fitness and talent

6. Viv Richards--the best aggressive batsmen who played faced Lille and Thomson without helmet. There will be many Haydens, Sehwags, and Jayasuryas, but no one will ever be as daring as Viv Richards

These are true legends because they are unique in their own ways.

Only problem I have with your list is that there is no fast bowler.

You can say that, but there are so many greats but I could not find someone who I can say is unique is own way. Probably, Marshall was the closest to being unique in this fast bowler's category.

I dont think u can include Sachin in T20.. If u r going to include him for his IPL performance, include Ramprakash and Hick also in the legends list.. They scored more than everyone in the English county.. Ramprakash has 34000 in first class.. Hick has 40000 .. Even Sachin cant dream of it..

Hey captain Dhoni Please remember this is a test match and you have to pick up 5 regular bowlers. Foolish to play with 4 bowlers and two of them are green horn and another one is not fully fit. Drop one batsman and pick up a bowler

yeah dhobi, drop yourself, you are not a test batsman at all, saw how you were dancing on murli's tune. and this is not today, you are doing this from WC2007. can't forget how u walked out on a lbw before the umpire gave you out. idiot dhobi.

Future bleak!!
by satish chandar on Jul 22, 2010 07:37 PM  | Hide replies

Indian team is fully riding on the batsmen alone for sometime now..

In tests, batsmen succeed in 8 out of 10 matches on current form...

When they fail, we lose..
Even when they succeed, If Zaheer and Bhajji bowls well, we win.. Otherwise, settle for draw..

In ODI's its getting even tougher.. Whatever batsman scores is not enough for our bowlers.. Even 400 is won only in last over delivering 30 continuous yorkers.. Youngsters are not that hungry to get place and cement themselves as obvious replacements for the current seniors..

Whoever is captain after couple of years is really going to find it tough.. Like WI.. No wonder if cricket detoriates completely in India like Hockey in 1980's after the retirement of Sachin, Dravid and VVS..

If so, for entertainment alone we can have two/three IPLs per year and completely ignore international matches after the retirement of the greats.. Atleast we can be happy that the winning team will have a Indian city name in it :-)
