Nothing to lose
by nice guy on Jul 23, 2010 10:22 AM  | Hide replies

Does not matter even we lose one match. India can win the remaining 2 tests.
With chucker like Murali operating on one end and thrower Malinga at the other end, no team can survive. So nothing to worry. Let them win by these 'cheats'. We will teach them a lesson.

NG:

:) We never lose. Right?

Its either the chucker, thrower, umpire, weather, "our" batting, "their" bowling, "their" fielding, "spirit of the game", the kid in the third row in the east stand eating icecream, the commentator wearing his tie wrong, the bus driver driving the team bus too fast, too slow.....

You should start coaching our CEO Mr. Dhoni... oops for all I know you already might be the prime reason Dhoni is our Chief Excuse Officer... ;-)

lol. It is funny how you have 2 yardsticks. One for your hero Mr ponting and another for dhoni. You really need to get over the loss aussies suffered at the hands of india.

Another reason to loss...........
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 23, 2010 10:21 AM

India had to go with 2 spinners in absence of Zaheer and Sreesanth. Records says India wins in abroad with 3 seamers.

Dhoni words

Dhoni bhayya- Wat happened to bhajji-why r u silent on him?
being the most exp off spinner, he should pick wickets on a bowler frendly track-instead u r speaking of pace attack. Ishant and Mithun did well-its only lack of support from the spin department that cost the match.Useless srikant should realise his mistakes and sack this idiott.
Its time to send off Bhajji and ask him to serve drinks to the boys.
Misra and Ojha should regularly bowl in tests.

Last match in Kolkata, Bhajji was the star.. Every match u ll take a u-turn?? Its a fact that India wins matches when Zaheer and Bhajji bowls well.. All others are just support bowlers only..

Ishant and Mithun had wickets to show.. But bowling at crucial points were equally ineffective..

I dont think Mishra is in good form.. Better to persist with Bhajji than moving to Mishra..

I agree. Mishra and Ojha are only good in India. In abroad India should go with 3 seamers but unfortunately India is lacking in fast bowling options.

Well they both are leg spinners. It is always good to have an off spinner and leg spinner. Bhajji will definitely bounce back. It was just an odd day. Anyway on the first day the pitch was not doing much for the bowlers and that is where the batsman did well but after 2-3 days the track becomes difficult to bat on.

Indian woes
by Hemant Mahajan on Jul 23, 2010 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

Selectors are completely unwise and partial. Dhaval Kulkarni who did superb in England is wasted & Sudeep Tyagi who is also a better prospect is also wasted. Harbhajan is to be rested because on a track where Murali took 8 Harbhajan 00000000.He should be replaced by Ashwin or Mishra or even Ramesh Powar is also not a bad option since he is handy with bat as well.

We have so many guys who do well in domestic circuit..

Recently chance were given to Dinda, Umesh yadav, Mithun, Vinay based on their domestic performance alone..

Its not mandatory they will succeed in international.. U cant replace Ishant who played around 20 tests with a debutant when Zaheer is injured..

I dont think there is partiality in it.. Its the performance on the day that led to lose..

Zaheer missed badly.......
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 23, 2010 10:06 AM  | Hide replies

Zaheer absence and Gambhir failure affected performance mostly. But India had the ability to at least draw the match. Poor performance. Lets hope improvement in next test.

This is how a normal Indian cricket fan should reract.. Instead of singling out one or two guys..

Its a collective failure of the performed players.. All we can do is just hope for them to be back to form and win next one.. Instead of silly blames on each player we dont like!!

It's very rare that Indian batting failed in 2 consecutive innings. It will not happen again in this series. But bowling department is a worry.

Absolutely.. If we can win toss next match, the result might be different.. In Srilanka(In subcontinent), winning toss is like having extra player in the team!!

Given that the suggestion came from you, I will not try to infringe on your Intellectual Property... ;-)

You can take all credit when ICC implements it... :)

In any case, from ODI to T20 to probably T5, the day will come when your suggestion will make most commercial sense becoz the viewers are very busy and don't have time to watch long test matches.... ergo ICC follows the "toss of coin" method, which anyway decides test match results according to your invention... :)

Normal..
by satish chandar on Jul 23, 2010 09:47 AM  | Hide replies

Lankans are very strong in their home..

With the inexperience of Indian team(Atleast bowling), the result is expected.. But the manner of losing is what is evoking the fans to react like this..

1. Viru did his bit in the match.. But Gmabhir failed.. Gambhir who is consistent for last 2 yrs failing in a match is ok.. But it did cost the match this time..

2. Batsmen getting out at wrong time and getting out in pairs like Dhoni, Yuvi & Sachin, Dravid..

3. Allowing the tail to score more than 100 runs that too aggressively.. Dhoni should have tried something different.. He failed as a captain there..

4. Yuvi failing after start in first innings and when he was the only batsman left to save follow on.. The ball was good.. But with added responsibility, he shd ve done little better..

5. Same for Dhoni in second innings.. With Malinga and Murali, u ll always expect 8 good balls out of 10 delivered surely.. As a captain and last recognised pair, he should have been upto the mark..

6. As usual, ineffectiveness of the bowlers.. When the track is flat, Ishant tried to bowl aggressive and went for too much runs.. Economy rate of 5 is not good in international for the Leader of the attack!!

I still feel, the players selected were the best for the conditions and are the best available.. I dont feel Raina can do better than Yuvi in tests or Mishra can bowl better than Ojha.. May be Munaf can come in for Ishant.. But we cant be sure of his fitness and

Dhoni has lost his brain

His fast bolwers gave him 8 wickets, whereas the famed spinner led by Bhajji NONE at all.

Dhoni has lost his brain after getting in to 200 crore deal. He should be kicked out for making such nonsense comments.

So, Replace Bhajji with Mishra or Ashwin?? Come on guys..

He may be bad.. But he is the best available..

Everyone shouted against Zaheer for not picking wickets.. Now, without him, the pace bowling looks very weak!!

Thats the fact..

Chandar:

No one is NOW shouting that Zaheer is the best thing to happen to the mankind since the invention of a tie-pin..

It is only our CEO Mr. Dhoni who has taken the mantle of Chief Excuse Officer...

Vaibhav was merely commenting on the fact that a "retiring" bowler scalped 8 wickets against the world's #1 test team boasting a pack of top ranking batsmen, whereas our spin wizard did a marvellous job with the bat... he said nothing about Zaheer...

And furthermore, if our "best available" cannot do even half of what a spinner about to retire does, isn't it time he followed the example of Murali?

So what?? retiring bowler is not great??

I am not saying Bhajji is the spin wizard and he should not be replaced.. but he is the best available..

Check the records of the spinners in last 20 years.. Only Kumble and Bhajji are the performers..

What if Murali is retiring in this match?? He is not playing by coming in a stretcher.. He is still fit and bowling well..

If so, McGrath won the World cup 2007 after announcing retirement.. Should all the bowlers be ashamed of their performance??
