Lillee was in Chennai
by India on Jan 30, 2010 06:16 PM  | Hide replies

Lilee was in Chennai and so he was being polite to the media. He cannot be serious or speaking the truth. Indian bolwers except for Zaheer and Mishra struggled against even Bangladesh. So how can Lillee say that India has a balanced bowling attack? That is utter rubbish. Ishanth used to be good pace bowler in 2008 but not anymore. Otherwise why would the selectors pick a debutant like Abhimanyu Mithun so eary in his career if India had a balanced bowling? Yes, Mithun is good bowler but he is too young and inexperienced in International cricket. India's spin bowling is so weak as it has been never ever been before. India's strength lies in its batting. India's bowling is really weak at the present moment.

yes you are right. Plus you make such statements to make yourself popular in the country and Lillee knows which sideof the bread is buttered. Our spin bowling in the absence of Kumble looks very weak and the worry is unlike th e batting line up there is seems to be no spinner pushing hard for a place.

i think india will always remain consistent as there is now tremendous competition among players to perform.
dhoni don't permit favouritism in team as ganguly use to do.
dhoni best captain cool and composed.

I 100% agree. It is disgusting to see some people who deliberately criticize our own team.
Recently India did well against all teams in and out of India

Hi Target...how come you are so wrong buddy. Ganguly is the only captain who did not indulge in any nepotism. Todays stars like Viru, zaheer, bhajji, yuvi etc are there because he persisted with'em and backed them up to the hilt. Ganguly changed Indian cricket!! you have to give him credit if you are a true patriot and have common sense!

Ganguly indulged in favouritism? He was only one who never indulged in it. Did he ever select any team mates from bengal? So where is favouritism buddy?

at that time there were others with bigger holes like Ratra, Parthiv, etc. So Deep was the lesser of the evil under the situation. Mongia did not qualify because of links to fixers. So you preferred Sameer dighe...Sachin's Pet, buddy. Think before you talk!

we are good in bowling too
by diraviyam Raj on Jan 30, 2010 12:09 PM

yes, we are good in bowling too otherwise we would nt ve won consistently and become no 1, may be we are not strong anough in the bowling department as south africa or australia or even west indies, but we still take 20 wickets to win a test match, if that happens regularly why should we blame our bowling.

Mithun ?
by Sudhindu sen on Jan 30, 2010 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

With all said and done..
This Mithun and guys could not bundle out Mumbai batting line up twice and lost. Mysore pitch was pace bowling friendly.

my vote goes to Dhawal Kulkarni for his all round performance. He would have been better selection.

Be practical, one good performance in the final is not good enough to merit a place in TEAM INDIA. Mithun has been consistent through out the season. So have a mature approach to selections.

Dhaval Kulakarni???? Slectors watching him from last 3-4 years. wickets which he got in 1st innings of Ranaji Final of tail enders. Mithun is much better bowler than Dhaval.

Who cares what you think, Mr.Sen? It is the selectors choice that matters. They are the ones who select and not us. By the way both Mithun and Vinay took wickets against Mumbai. It is the team effort that matters in winning and not individual records. It was a close match in the end. How many wickets did Dhawal get? Was he able to bundle out Karnataka? Your Dhawal went wicketless against North Zone in the Duleep trophy this week. Dhawal was in good form from in the year 2008. This is 2010 and Mithun has been terrific form in 2009. That is the reason for his selection. Get that into your head first.

We are number 1 only because of our batting line up. Otherwise if you closely observe our bowling we should be 1 from the bottom.

Out batting is very good but still we need to take 20 wickets to win a test match which we r doing. Yes, there is scope for improvement in bowling.

Poor observation skills. We have been taking 20 wickets consistently well if you check. Well if that is poor bowling skills then i guess all other teams have pathetic batsmen.

Bowling Attack
by Abhijit on Jan 30, 2010 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

Indian bowling attack definitely doent suit to its No. 1 Test status.
Referring No. 1 Test team means, No.1 in all departments of the game.
I feel that we are not No. 1 in Bowling and Fielding. With world class batsmen like Tendulkar, Dravid, Sehwag, Laxman, Gambhir etc. we are overcoming other defects.

No1 reflects the results, its not being good in all fields of the game. So if we are number 1 its because of the team, I agree on a weak bowling line up, and if this bowling can fetch u 20 wickets so be it.

Wrong. Our bowling attack has been the prime reason we have been winning more often than not. Actually now batting and bowling has been complementing each other. However ODI and T20 bowling needs serious work.
