It shows how professional are Aussies.....They understand how important is to win real/main format of cricket - Test & ODIs......
Its an example which Ponting has presented not only before his team meates but also for all countries players....
If your captain does like this.....team memebrs will inspired to do so.
And even if its all about playing T20 or IPL....Ponting has all chances of playing those once he retires.....Glichrist, Hyden are few examples who are no more in International arena but featuring in IPL.....
because its not your age which makes you fit for T20 kinda game.....its your approach and adaptability to the format which needs you to be there.
Though I am an Indian and supports my team....but honest to accept that you (Ponting) are one of the real, toughest and best champion of Cricket.

u wont disagree whatever he did was second to sachin though!!!!! whatever u said has already done by someone else as an individual abt captaincy...dude they are australians...they decided him as captain much before he was announced...he was given lessons from wagh..moreover they were the best when he took on as captain....he had the best side in world any one can have again...guess that makes it simple as well

I agree with gaurdain. His performance in T20's was anyway below par. So, he thought of quitting the format. Also, his desire is to overcome Sachin's records in Tests and ODI's.

Dear Vitta....Hope you will be aware from many others who aren't too succeeded in T20 (IPL)....one is our very own Sachin.

Dear unknown, IPL cannot be considered a benchmark for performance in T20's. If you remember, before the T20 world cup in 2007, the veterans (Dravid, Sachin etc.) had the grace to step down from this format in order to let the youngsters take over in this format. Also, in your later post, you are talking about Ponting's exceptional captaincy. I guess you have forgotten the Sydney Test where Mr. Ponting started claiming grounded catches and influencing umpires' decisions. It was the grace of Anil Kumble, due to which Aus won the Sydney Test.

Dear Vitta....Forget IPL, this T20 format can never be benchmark of REAL cricket game like Test and ODI, where you need more professionalism and skill to win a match, and not luck to win a T20 match where you later take your guard first you think which corner to hit the ball....
I proud Sachin for not opting T20 to focus on Test and ODI and let the yougnsters in....BUT I also criticise him for playing in IPL.
If he (Sachin) would have presented an example like Ponting by opting out from IPL too (as Ponting did before Ashes) surly it had made not only me but also you much prider and also other Indian players to give a thought before joining this...
And if you talk about Sydney test....Yeah, that was shamefull from these Aussies and I hate that type of game.....but if there is anything good with them in this article thats I am appreciating.

Dear Gaurdain...Agree he is the second person to do so....but never found matching any style of the first person....he has been unique and at least now has been the first if compares between two (his batting, fielding, captaincy all exceptional even after so many years, there is not much differance between the two in years)....
Someone has already done whatever he did....but before that someone any other someone would also have done so you can never take away credit of any someone....
They are Australians....DUDE don't say them Aussies only better to say thorough PROFESSIONAL....if he has given lessons, in India had also many.....There wasn't anyother best in India when your someone took the captaincy.....He HAD side but no more few months ago, but they-he re-building and soon they'll be back where they were and you known them as CHAMPIONS.

Dear CHATUr....you mean he is inspired from Sachin, from the starting of his international career thats why he is the second highest run scorer......second most centurier etc etc.
So he will soon follow Sachin and resign from capataincy to focus on betting.
