wher is mohd kaif???
by girish on Jan 28, 2010 08:01 PM

they should have picked mohd kaif, virat kohli and raina. its good that they have selected talented young players like manish pandey, abhimanyu mithun and vinay kumar. thank god they didnt pick up hapless robin utthappa. he's not even fit to play in domestic cricket by looking at the way he played ranji final being a captain. i think they should've also given chance for promising wicket keeper M gautham of karnataka rather than tried and tested parthiv patel.

Only Pujara is suited for the longer format of the game, Badrinath has performed well in the last 3-4 seasons

Well, Badri has been there for a decade now having over 6000 runs with an average of 58 and 22 centuries. How much more does one has to score? He has to be first tried in Tests rather than ODIs or T20s.

Team selection is totally biased
by Ajay Jain on Jan 28, 2010 05:17 PM  | Hide replies

It is not known what for Murali Vijay and Badrinath are in the team. There seems to be no logic other than their belonging to Tamilnadu.
The reason for ommission of Md. Kaif, Manish Pandey, Chettaswar Pujara etc. who are scoring profusely is also not known.

Well, Badri has been there for a decade now having over 6000 runs with an average of 58 and 22 centuries. How consistently others have performed? Do not criticize without knowing the facts. Cheteswar Pujara was on the verge of getting selected even one year back, but he had a serious knee injury and has resumed playing cricket only now. If he performs well when he gets opportunities, he will be a regular in Tests in future.

Profusely? Manish is in his first or second season in Ranji. Kaif - Tested and failed a lot. Still don't understand the logic for selecting opener Murali Vijay and let him play in the middle order. As for Cheteshwar Pujara he is eligible and should be in the Indian squad soon

Board XI

What the use of picking up the team after picking up Indian Squad. In earlier days Indian squad used to be picked up after the Board XI match is over by seeing the performances in that match.
Time Again and again our Selectors are making the statement of Mohinder Amarnath correct "BUNCH OF JOCKERS"

Please don't expose Abhimanyu Mithun in this match. He can be trump card against SA.

Rohit sharma would have been much better option than Badrinath and Pujara. A lot of big names have already reckoned his talent. He could be the right choise of dravid's replacement but off course Dhoni and Selectors thought otherway!

Rohit is talented, but he is yet to showcase his talents and I don't think its a good idea to try him at the international level. And please get out of this regionalism crap. We are gonna play SA as Team India, not as Mumbai XI
