B'DESH SERIES :BALANCE SHEET---II
by damodaran mohan on Jan 29, 2010 08:02 PM

INDIA:The greatest positive was consistency of Virat Kohli & Gambhir with batting.Next it was return of Zaheer ‘s old form seen in England last. However the sudden ‘reverse swing’ seen of him on the last day is simply unbelievable and it remains to be seen if he can do that consistently. Return to form of Ishant is also heartening and there is no reason why he should not get back his 100% level in the SA series. Batting appears to be dependent on Sachin to a great extent and in case Sehwag & Gambhir fail to fire , then the chances of SA winning the series are more. Spin deptt. also looks wobbly thanks to Dhoni’s indiscretions. For SA series they may have to play two spinners and five bowlers to improve the chances of restricting SA total because Indian middle order looks a bit weakened.
Captaincy? One picture equals thousand words, right ? We all saw that LIVE picture on Neo sports how the Team recd. Idea Trophy.

B'DESH SERIES :BALANCE SHEET---I
by damodaran mohan on Jan 29, 2010 07:59 PM

B'DESH: Given their talent, Shakibulhassan & co deserve to occupy at least the 5th position after I,SA,A&P.Then why are they at the bottom ? After the shameful picture of the BBoard/Boss and the captain was beamed all across the world it seems the b/board's mismanagement could be one of the main reason. Individually the players are simply brilliant starting from SH,TI,M'Tulla,Rahim..... only Ashraful seems to be passing through a lean patch and may be they should look for suitable replacement. In bowling they are almost at par with India except for the experience of Zaheer.All in all, if properly harnessed they have the potential to overtake England & WI in the next few years. In fact they have very good chance of making it to the league stage in the T20 WC in March and once there, they can even make it to the last four also.Our best wishes.

These are some facts for those who say Sachin doesn't performe in crucial or you can say in final matches:

He has hit 6 centuries in final matches and all 6 centuris have won matches/series for India.                     ;
India have won 16 finals and Sachin has failed just twice in these.                     ;
Apart from making runs he has taken 17 wickets in these (39 finals)                   &nbs p;
He has made total 1833 runs in 38 innings at an avg of 55.54 with a strike rate of 87.41
He has won 9 MOM's & 8 MOS's.                     ;
His over all avg in wining matches is 57.24 with a strike rate of 90                    &nb sp;
His avg in wining matches (while chasing a target) is 56.68 with a strike rate of 90 (14 centuries, 27 fifties)                   &nb sp;
His avg in wining matches (while setting a target) is 57.80 with a strike rate of 90 (18 centuries, 29 fifties)                   &nb sp;
India have never managed to win a single tournament without Sachin's presence.                   &n bsp;

So, how can one say he doesn't performe in crucial matches when India couldn't win a single odi tournament without him?
They (Sachin haters) say rest all do well in crucial matches, likes ganguly, Sehwag (avg 30 in final matches, just 3 fifties), Dravid, yuvi and even Dhoni do well in final matches but then why didn't they win a single ODI tournament for India even after playing 150 matches?

It wud b great if u cud get similar stats when he used to bat lower down the order.
The result of a match depends upon how well the first 3 palyers perform. With Sachin opening the innings he gets the maximum oppurtunity to score runs. It wud b nice if u good get similar stats for Ganguly who used to open with Sachin and u wud c the difference wud not b much.
Wud also like to know how has he fared in finals whihc India has lost.

also give details of the 16 finals in which he has performed :)

come up with all these stats and then we can continue with our discussion.

Sachin should be retire from ODI...
by arvi unite on Jan 29, 2010 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

Its the right time,when sachin should start thinking about retirement.. Once upon a time, people including me, got to switched off their TV sets ones Sachin got out.. but over the years circumstances have changed now, at least for ODI, & T20 India's have more exciting players then him to be watch out for and he is blocking the way for youngsters... Still i feel Sachin should only play in Test and must should hang his boot for ODI and its better to not talk about T20 cuz he can't play ...

And Guys Plz don't talk about form..if so is the case then i think Hayden and Adam Gilchrist were as good as in their peak at the time of their retirement and even today witness is their form in last 2 IPL...

Arvi Unite:

If Hayden and Gilchrist ran away from playing for their nation, Sachin shouldn't simply follow suit.

Or else, all the current players should retire simultaneously.... coz after all, retiring when in full form is the best way to retire, eh? :)

I see your point. But then if Dhoni has decided to block youngsters by playing on, I think singling out Sachin to retire will be a bit unfair.. :)

If he can't play continuously, he should opt for retirement. Since last few seasons.. he almost opted for Rest in every alternate series..his body is not supporting him...what is it? don't be just blind followers .?

Indian selection
by Hemant Mahajan on Jan 29, 2010 11:05 AM

I think Saha is a worthless selection in test team. He has made no impression in T20, Ranajis & other matches. If you had to have a sub to Dhoni Karthik or Parthiv Patel could have been better options. I still wonder to see Harbhajansingh in the squad. He has been a complete failure on the ground at home and away in the past few seasons. He deserves to be rested for a long period of time.
