concerns
by Varma on Jan 27, 2010 04:19 AM  | Hide replies

Afridi know that Gunmen have attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team on its way to play in the Pakistani city of Lahore.
At least six policemen escorting the team bus were killed, along with a driver. Seven cricketers and an assistant coach were injured.
Pakistani officials said about 12 gunmen were involved and grenades and rocket launchers have been recovered. No news came of their arrest. India and Australia have pulled out of cricket tours in Pakistan in the recent past citing security concerns. The sport's world governing body, the International Cricket Council, last month decided not to hold the 2009 Champions Trophy in Pakistan due to safety worries.

to a heavy exchange of fire between the two sides.

The ceasefire violation came as the country celebrated Republic Day.

The BSF also foiled infiltration bids by militants in the area.

The cross border firing started around 0200 hours even as a group of militants entered the Ulfa Machail border outpost along the International Border and were challenged by a BSF patrolling party, a senior BSF officer said.

Our Indian team has been playing cricket with Pakistan since early 1950's. I don't know how cricket will help in peace process?

Cricket is not played for peace between these two countries.

It is played to keep the animosity alive.

If we stop hating each other, how will the people who benefit from this hatred survive??
